I’ve been tagged by the awesome Dani at http://onlybooksandhorses.wordpress.com If you haven’t checked out her blog yet, you should. It’s one of my favorites! So, here are my seven bookish deadly sins:
Greed: What is your most inexpensive book? What is your most expensive book? ~ I have a limited budget so I’m a big believer in libraries. And I’m not biased because I was a children’s librarian! Okay, maybe a little. Like Dani I also take advantage of Amazon’s Kindle freebies. I’m also addicted to NetGalley, Blogging For Books, and Goodreads contest giveaways. The first book I ever won was Shattered, by Kevin Hearne. He happens to be one of my favorite authors. I think you could hear my screams across town. The most expensive book would definitely be Harry Potter Page To Screen: The Complete Filmaking Journey, by Bob McCabe for $47. It was for Christmas though! And it’s Harry!
Wrath: Which author do you have a love/hate relationship with? ~ Stephenie Meyers. I loved Twilight and New Moon, but after that things went quickly downhill for me. By the time I finished the last book I wanted to chuck it across the room. I also felt that both Edward and Jacob should tell Bella to take a hike, and go get a beer together. I know this wasn’t the question, but I have a hate/hate relationship with Fifty Shades of Grey. I had to sneak this in because I truly loathe and despise this book. So much so that if there was one book I would ever consider burning (not that I would), this would be it!!! I apologize to any fans. This is just my humble opinion.
Gluttony: What book have you devoured over and over with no shame? ~ The entire Harry Potter series. I’ve read them so often I can quote entire passages verbatim! Is this a good thing?
Sloth: What book have you neglected to read due to laziness? ~ Dr. Zhivago. I loved the movie and the book has held a permanent position on my TBR list since high school. Now I feel so guilty.
Pride: What book do you talk about most in order to sound like an intellectual? ~ Anything by Jane Austen and Shakespeare. Luckily I really do love them. Honest!
Lust: What attributes do you find attractive in male or female characters? ~ Strength. But not to the point of being obnoxious.
Envy: What book would you most like to receive as a gift? ~ An autographed copy of Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan. Please, please, please, anyone???? Okay. I’m getting control over myself now.
Thanks again Dani! This was so much fun! I would now like to pass this on to my blogging buddy Emma at http://emmakwall.com Have fun lovely Emma!

I love tags 🙂 I have a weakness for Harry Potter too, definitely my most read books. (It’s about time for another reread) I never knew before this year that there were so many ways to get free books! If I’d known that I’d have blogged before now. (Note: I don’t only blog for free books, they’re just a happy plus.) Tuesday Blood of Olympus is here!!!

I’m officially tagging you Molly! That is if you’d like to do this. It would be so great to see how you’d answer! Harry Potter trivia for the day: Did you know the actor who played Dean Thomas is one of the stars of ABCs How To Get Away With Murder? While I must admit it’s what first caught my mind the show is awesome! I know you feel about the freebies. It’s a total win win situation! OMG! 4 more days until Blood of Olympus! Do you feel a little sad too that this is it?

I enjoyed your post and your sense of humor. Is it odd that I don’t really know what a ‘tag’ is?
Either way–I’m ready through your blog and enjoying. Keep it up.
Cheers,

Wow! Thank you so much. I’m really enjoying your blog also. I am what I like to refer to as “technologically-challenged”. On really bad days I call myself a “techno-idiot” so don’t feel badly about the tags. I never heard of them until I started blogging. Now I’m trying to figure out how to add a bloody NetGalley button to my widgets. Let’s just say it’s not going well 😦

I am ALSO struggling techno-wise – I bought WordPress for Dummies but was lost by page 3…plus all the techno stuff eats into reading time! But yours looks great – my New Year Resolution – jazz up my blog and learn what I’m doing properly!

Oh wow! I didn’t know there was a WordPress for dummies. I’m glad I’m not the only one though who has trouble following the “Dummies” books 😦 If you figure out how to use widgets properly let me know?

Yep I felt really dumb! Thing is, when I was at school it was BBC computers – it’s much easier for younger people who did computing at school! I’m mystified with the widgets thing too, I tried to add bits to mine like “Blogs I Follow” etc and it looked disastrous. Hey at least you’ve got yours a different colour – mine’s just as it came out. Took me about 3 months to figure how easy it was to put a pic of a book cover on it – I thought it couldn’t possibly be a straight cut and paste job, seemed too simple. Plus I only figured out links about 6 weeks ago….! But most of the blog community are lovely and helpful.

Thanks Dani! The only bad thing about libraries is I can’t stop myself from checking out books. I’ve got 24 out right now and you don’t even want to know how many NetGalley books are on my Kindle. I have absolutely no self control!

I know the feeling! I’m sure whenever I log on NetGalley think “Oh no not her again!” I remember reading a v smug blogger saying her percentage reviewed was 85%!! I’m way behind but I WILL get to pretty much every one in time! But we shouldn’t feel guilty – we all work pretty hard at our blogs, so it’s good to get something from it (and in my case, I’ve saved so much money!)

You really like Rick Riordan as a author? I loved his PJ series but the Olympus one not really. :S Love Jane Austen!! Hhaha, yeah, freebies are awesome although some are really suspicious–as in maybe the books are just really not good. Great answers!

Thanks Lola! I love Rick Riordan 🙂 No one quite compares to JK Rowling, and Harry, but he and Percy come close. I had a little bit of a hard time getting into the Olympus series because of the going back and forth between the Roman and Greek gods, and the two different camps, but once Percy reappeared I was hooked. Jane Austen’s books are ones I re-read over and over, especially Pride and Prejudice. Freebies you definitely have to be careful of but you can find some real gems. I got Diane Gabaldon’s Outlander for free from Amazon, and this weekend Claudette Melanson’s first book Rising Tide (which is awesome) is free 🙂

I have never read a single word of Harry Potter, but I have read Doctor Zhivago, Anna Karenina, and many other Russian ‘classics’. (Yes, I did manage ‘War and Peace’, but I was only 17) My cheapest book was a 99p Kindle purchase, bought to support a fellow blogger. My most expensive? Probably a £40 book on photographers from the Magnum News Agency.
I enjoyed your answers.
Best wishes from England. Pete.

I said I was going to come back and do this so:
Greed: Least expensive – lots of free books on Kindle. Most expensive – Collector editions of Twilight
Wrath: My love/hate relationship has to be with Charlaine Harris. I loved Bill & Sookie in the books…haven’t finished yet, but I really didn’t like the path Sookie went down. It could have gotten better tho. I HATE the way they ended True Blood x_x
Gluttony: Devoured with no shame – All the Twilight books. I love them so much and have read them over and over
Sloth: War & Peace…must someday
Pride: The Remains of the Day or The Faerie Queen
Lust: What attributes do you find attractive in male or female characters? Women should be independent but not unable to love or be loved. For men compassion and respect for animals. The strength to be with an independent woman
Envy: What book would you most like to receive as a gift? Anything autographed by either Stephen King, Anne Rice, or my favorite, Stephenie Meyer
