Hi Everyone. So I just officially signed up for NaNoWriMo which starts in less than 24 hours, and I’m already having to remind myself to breathe. I’ve been working sporadically on a YA book since I became disabled in 2014. It springs from my love for the tv series Supernatural, and for the first time it seems “real”, which is absolutely terrifying to me. Anyway, since this is a huge time commitment, my posts may be a bit sporadic from November 1st – November 30 so don’t think I’m neglecting By Hook or By Book. Okay. Well I sort of will be, but it’ll be for a good cause!

I’ll be sharing in that hyperventilating right along with you! Just remember- this is supposed to be fun! Let loose your inner child and stuff that critique. EVERYONE’S BOOK SUCKS ON NANORIMO! It’s national WRITE a novel, not EDIT a novel!

Congrats! I did Nano last year, (still don’t know if I’m doing it this year) but my biggest piece of advice is to ignore the word count entirely. As long as you write every day, consider yourself a winner. Good luck! 🙂

Thanks Molly. I just put my short synopsis up on the site. I’m going to be handwriting my book so I have a feeling I’m going to be using the experience as a general guide and organizational tool to keep me on track. If I can even complete 1/2 the word count I’ll consider that an accomplishment 🙂

Don’t be too hard on yourself. As I’ve seen a few here already say: ‘It’s not really the word count that should matter most’. So long as you show up, what needs to happen for that moment/day will!
