I didn’t realize until I read a wonderful post over at http://blessedwithastarontheforehead.com that I missed this tribute to our furry friends. On September 10th it will be six months since my husband and I lost our Pomeranian, and we still feel it as keenly as if it were yesterday. In honor of Lacey and dogs everywhere, I’d like to share a few inspirational quotes about our faithful friends. Please forgive me for using mostly Pom gifs. I’m a little biased.
“Happiness is a warm puppy.”
~ Charles M. Schulz ~
“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring–it was peace.”
~ Milan Kundera ~
“If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and man.”
~ Mark Twain ~
“Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day. It is amazing how much love and laughter they bring into our lives and how much closer we become with each other because of them.”
~ John Grogan, Marley and Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog ~
“The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog.”
~ M.K. Clinton ~
*Update*
This wasn’t part of my original canine tribute, but this puppy playing with the new BB-8 droid from The Force Awakens is just another great example of why dogs rule! Hmm. I wonder what R2 would make of this?
Happy day for our wonderful friends!!

Thanks Vinnie. I know I went a little overboard with the Poms.

I missed national dog day too. And I’m still missing my miniature poodle, Cinnamon, after a year and a half. I still think about her now and then, and especially miss her when I see other dogs. My last encounter with a friendly little dog made me think of her, and now I’m thinking of trying pet sitting part-time.

I was thinking of you and little Cinnamon, Jeanne. I think pet sitting sounds like a great idea. We’re thinking of getting another Pom next year sometime.
