Harry Potter fans mark your calendars! On July 31st, 2016 the eighth book in the series will be released! Here’s the official blurb:
Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a new play by Jack Thorne, is the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. It will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on 30th, July 2016.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.

haha Love the gifs! I’ll admit, I feel a bit of trepidation about this new one. Not that I think it won’t be great, but because I’m afraid of what will happen if it isn’t. Perhaps it’s because the Star Wars episode 1, 2, and 3 movies tarnished the entire story for me. I sincerely hope to have this new story be fantastically good so that it doesn’t taint my opinion of the first 7 books. ^_^;

I know! To be perfectly fair though I don’t think he really started hating Harry until he sat through multiple viewings of the movies for me. And after he groaned and rolled his eyes after I excitedly told him the news earlier, the first thing he said was “Preorder it right now!” So, I guess I’ll keep him!😊

I have to admit that I used to be someone who didn’t get the whole HP hype. I’d never read the books and didn’t want to see the movies until last year. ABC Family (now Freeform) did a marathon of all the movies. I recorded them and watched them at my leisure. My daughter watched some of them. My husband watched the last two. Everyone liked them. Now I want to read the books. My local library never has them on the shelves so, I’ll have to buy and read before July.

I love Potter (the books, not the movies). Too much. I grew up on them, I was and am still obsessed with them. But I don’t like Rowling (I have told you before how much she grates on me) and I am scared this is just her cashing in because her last three books were such flops. Ugh. I hope it is brilliant, but I am worried about what will happen if she messes it up.

I do remember you saying how Rowling aggravates you Zoe. I hated Casual Vacancy, but I do like her Cormoran Strike series. In my humble opinion though, her writing is the best when she returns to the world of Harry. I’m quite hopeful for this one because the synopsis sounds so intriguing. Fingers crossed!

Excitement level? 9/10 . A little afraid it might suck because most books after the original usually do. But still it’s Harry Porter, so am excited!!!
