This isn’t one of my usual bookish posts, but I felt the need to share. We have a lot of wildlife where we live and it’s not uncommon to see raccoons, rabbits, groundhogs, wild turkeys, and even the occasional deer. My husband and I have been having a bit of a problem with the raccoons getting into our trash. They really are quite dexterous with their little hands and are quite adept at prying off the covers.
As we opened the front door this morning there was our trash barrel, on it’s side with the contents strewn all over are yard and stairs. One of the things they got into was a sealed container of store bought cupcakes of which my husband had tried one and found them too disgusting to eat. Needless to say they ate all of them. Also in the trash were the remains of a tomato which apparently did not meet with their approval. Really?! Unlike the grape loving critter above, our raccoons are junk food addicts! We’re now going to try storing the barrels in the garage, although I swear I wouldn’t be surprised if our ravenous raccoons figured out how to open the the door!
