If you’re Potterhead like me, you’ve probably heard the news yesterday that on September 6th, there will be three new ebook collections of short stories from JK Rowling.
My first reaction was:

I mean, they have lovely covers and all, but didn’t she JUST say that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was the finale? I’m thinking this is turning into a case of “too much of a good thing.” The good news is that they’re only $2.99 each. But to be honest, I don’t think I want to even shell out that much. I think I’ll probably wait until my library offers them on their Overdrive. In the meantime, even though it’s doubtful she’ll ever read this, I have one piece of advice for Rowling:

There are two fictional universes I will never tire of hearing from – 1) The Harry Potter world and 2) the Shadowhunter world. I’m going to be thrilled with whatever JK Rowling puts out.

I’m with you. My first reaction was “enough, let it rest.”. I love to revisit the HP world, but don’t need more. I have a feeling we might be in the minority though… 😀

I love HP and all, but except for actual new stories, I’ll pass on new stuff as I don’t need ALL the background information. She can continue to share info like that on Pottermore, though, that’s fine and all, and I might check it out if it sounds interesting.

I can understand where you’re coming from, and I’m ok with it if she wants to release books of new stories, though I do think they would work better on Pottermore. But if she wants to put out more information, such as background stuff or expanding on facts, then she should stick to putting that to Pottermore, otherwise releasing books of that would seem like she’s doing it for money.

That tricky Jo! I, too, recall hearing her say that she was done with HP after The Cursed Child, but…I suppose since she didn’t write TCC maybe she didn’t count that? I don’t know. Hopefully, she won’t start just milking the franchise for it’s name marketability. I’ve seen that happen with way too many of my favorite things, and it’s a quick and easy way to create jaded fans

I think she’s already milking it too much. I enjoy Harry Potter but I’m with you on this one. I’m still on the second book of the series!

Yeah the Cursed Child was a mistake, in my opinion. But this sounds good. Anything from the past is good. Just no more sequels pleeeease.
