Before you start reading, if you’re a fan of Donald Trump, don’t go any further. I really, really don’t wish to offend anyone.
Alright everyone. This hellish election is almost over. Considering how nauseating the last several months have been, I was feeling fairly comfortable with the way things were looking until a week and a half ago when the FBI took the unprecedented step of deciding that they wanted to live in “Trumpland”–Rudy Giuliani’s words not mine–and get involved in the election process and tilt things toward Trump.
So the last several days I’ve been doing a lot of this:
And this:
My poor, poor husband. He REALLY can’t wait until this is over!
Look, I realize that the majority of us have either already taken advantage of early voting, or firmly have fixed in their minds who they want to see as their next president. So, this plea is for any undecideds or people planning to just not vote, especially if you live in a battleground state. While Hillary may come with some baggage, she’s also done quite a bit of good in her life, especially in regards to children, families, education, and women’s rights. Do you really want to see a man who has done absolutely nothing except make money for himself at the expense of others, become President? Trump is not only bigoted against just about everyone except for other elderly white men who were never POWs, but he has seriously dangerous ideas concerning the economy, our schools, women’s rights, climate change, immigration, the military, terrorism, and the way we interact with our international allies. For all the talk about Clinton’s supposed issues with telling the truth, Trump is a proven pathogical liar, but for some reason has pretty much gotten a pass on this. For those who look with distaste on the idea of Bill Clinton being in the White House again, albeit not as President, think on this: Donald Trump with the numerous and credible sexual accusations against him will be even worse. I know so many of us are fed up with the corruption in Washington, but for God’s sake, Trump will just feed into the quagmire. This is a man whose economic policies are so dangerous that 370 of our nation’s top economists have written and signed a letter asking the American people not to vote for him. This is a man who has more respect for the leaders of North Korea and Russia then he does our own. This is a man who just got the endorsement of the Ku Klux Clan’s official newspaper. Was anyone surprised at that? This is a man who has had the absolute temerity to come out and say that he knows more than our military in spite of the fact that he never served. This is the man who has pledged to sign the anti-LGBTQ First Amendment Defense Act. If you haven’t heard of this it will basically legalize anti-LGBTQ discrimination among businesses, employers, landlords, and even healthcare providers as long as they claim they’re being motivated by their religious beliefs. This is a man who will do his best to make sure Roe v Wade is overturned and Planned Parenthood is defunded, sending women’s rights and control over their own bodies back decades. This is a man who boasts of building a wall and banning people as well as deporting ones who are already here, based solely on their religion and nationality. This is a man whose cries of a “rigged election” and encouragement to his followers to “Stop the Steal” has resulted in lawsuits in multiple states to prevent voter intimidation. Just yesterday a judge in Ohio actually served the Trump campaign with a restraining order to protect people trying to vote. Donald Trump is not an anti-establishment knight-in-shining armor who is here to rescue us. He is a narcissistic and power hungry man-child who if elected, will have the capability to destroy this country and take the rest of the world with it. I know many will disagree with me but we’ve seen this before with Hitler. I realize that sounds overly dramatic, but I firmly believe it. Just as I firmly believe that we as a nation are better than this.
So, on November 8th, I implore you, VOTE! In an election like this, every vote matters. YOUR VOICE MATTERS!
Save our country and show the rest of the world that we refuse to support a racist, homophobic, misogynistic, Islamaphobic, narcissistic egomaniac who basically got into this race because President Obama hurt his feelings two years ago. And if, God help us, Trump gets in, you may not hear from me for a few days because I’ll be busy doing this:
And this:
And mostly this:

The only thing stopping me from utter panic mode is this group I was added to on Facebook for Hillary supporters. It’s secret but not really so much anymore since it went from 80k members when I joined early this week to almost one million right now. The amount of people from all walks of life who are supporting her is overwhelming and immense. I was on the edge of despair, but now I have hope that reason will prevail and Agent Orange will be defeated. I don’t know what I’ll do otherwise.

It’s almost 1.3 million now! It really has helped me, and it’ll be over in a few days. I know a lot of people will be drinking heavily Tuesday night and biting their nails. I get stomach twinges still, but again, I’ve found that safe space for calm. If you do get Facebook and would like to join just let me know and I can send an invite! I think it’s going to be around even after all the election shenanigans. I’d love to see it evolve into something even greater!

I don’t think PA has early voting. If it did I would definitely have done it already. It would be nice if it were just state wide.

Unfortunately I live in Indiana. Near the city, it’s full of Democrats, but in the rural areas (which makes up most of the state) it’s Republican. I live on the edge of suburb/rural, and there’s a strong mix of people here. I’m not sure what to expect.

Yes, but only in ONE location. Another method of trying to keep us from getting in early. I don’t do well in crowds, and that was a sure fire way to send me panicking without any intimidating behavior.

I feel your pain, Kim. From an outsider’s perspective, I can’t imagine anyone worse than Trump. Then again, Clinton is not much of an alternative. Still, compared to him, she is Joan of Arc!
Good luck for the 8th. You will all need it.
Best wishes, Pete.

There’s nothing silly about it. I think the majority of book bloggers suffer from anxiety in one form or the other. If it were my country, it probably would’ve triggered them for me as well. And that’s very sweet of your husband actually, because you won’t be able to change anything about it anyways. Just make you nervous instead. I’m going to light a candle for Hillary tomorrow evening. Can’t say I like her very much either but compared to Trump, I’d take anyone over that!

Love the Trump disclaimer! lol I hate him so much I can’t stand the sound of his voice or the sight of that pig on my TV. Any woman who would vote for him needs her head examined. He’s a racist, womanizing bigot who only cares about saving himself money on taxes and helping out corporations. I’ve been trying to avoid the news and it’s impossible. I live in Florida now and it’s Trump signs and commercials everywhere. I’m so glad it’s almost over, but I’m also dreading if he becomes our president. The US will no longer be united or a country if he takes office. Might as well pack our bags and beg England to take us back. 😂

Thanks Jill! I got flamed by one commenter on my last Trump post, so that’s why the stop sign! I’m so sorry you live in one of the states that is up in the air right now. I can’t even imagine what that is like. I live in MA which is solidly blue, so thankfully even though we have to put up with campaign commercials, it’s not so bad. I honestly can’t believe that this race has become so close. He tells lie, after lie, after lie, yet Clinton is the “crooked” one. She has decades of public service which for the most part have been filled with accolades, yet he’s the “hero” who will save us all? I really think there’s an element of sexism at play here. Honestly, I could keep going, but I can already feel my blood pressure going up. I wonder how many people are making sure their passports are in order? Then again, if he does win, I don’t think there will be anywhere in the world where it will be safe to hide!😕

I love how people don’t see through his lies and they think his remarks are refreshing. I doubt they’ll find them very refreshing when we have even more issues with ISIS, the country is in a state of civil war, and the person who may end up with the nuclear codes is a lose cannon who cannot be trusted. He will end up getting us all killed. His comment about the generals really burns me up because I worked for the military for 9 years and that blatant disregard for our military is disgusting. No one wants a commander in chief like that. He’ll probably sell us off to Russia and have us doing slave labor. No thank you! Even other countries feel bad for us. It’s sad because this election will cause so much damage if he’s elected. I already pulled all of my money out of the financial markets last month in preparation for this. The stock market has been taking a slow hit that I’ve been watching and anticipating. It will be like Brexit all over again with the markets. And you’re right. We wouldn’t be safe anywhere. That blue passport is like a target on our back.

I actually didn’t vote for either Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Trump. I did vote for someone else. As someone who goes back to the days of Roe V. Wade here is a little fact about the United States Supreme Court. They rarely go back and overturn something like Roe. Its been law since the early 70’s and the court won’t go there. For those of us who are much older we are sadden by what we see from both sides. One of the things that troubles many of us that if your going to sing the praises of Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Trump you need to tell the whole story. For decades Mrs. Clinton has praised her support for women while she allowed her husband to cheat on her and she didn’t walk out. Let me cheat on my wife and watch how fast she has my stuff on the front porch! As someone who has studied American History for decades this doesn’t even come close in terms of real danger to the nations security. Now that 20 trillion national is the biggest danger we face and if the Chinese say they want their money the world will come to a stop.

Thank you for commenting. Clinton actually wasn’t my first choice. I was originally a Bernie supporter. I wound up voting for Clinton in the end mainly because I felt Trump was a far more dangerous choice and he goes against EVERYTHING I believe in. While I agree that it’s unlikely that Roe v Wade or Marriage Equality will be overturned, a predominantly conservative Supreme Court can still issue rulings curtailing the freedoms of both of these rulings. As far as Clinton staying with her husband, I’m not going to judge her on that. Given Trump’s own words and actions regarding women, I think she definitely comes out ahead.
