Honestly. I have no more words. I did however find this wonderful quote:
Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow.

Such a beautiful quote from a beautiful soul… so sad she has past… the force will forever be with her.

Oh.. I did not know this. I knew she was in critical condition. Very saddened.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I have to confess this did take me by surprise because her mother and brother just said yesterday she was in stable condition. Plus for some irrational reason Imhad in the back of my head that there was just no way she’d be taken right after George Michael.

I think I was in the same train of thought as you.. it is so sad. I don’t think some people(around me) understand what a loss this is for me. She was my hero as a young girl. Princess Leia was so wonderful growing up with Star Wars.

2016 seems determined to remind us that we are just visitors to this planet–and what we do now will affect the lives of future visitors.

It’s terrible that she died so young, but when I heard she’d received 30+ minutes of CPR, well…it might be for the best that she passed. She was unlikely to wake up our same General Leia.

I didn’t realize she had received CPR for that long. You’re right Jay. Maybe this was better for her.

I’m without words for this. I just wish you didn’t have to keep making these tribute posts so frequently. 😦 Apparently we also lost Richard Adams, the author of Watership Down today too.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I’m really weary of these tribute posts to tell the truth. I mean honestly! 2016 just has really been a cursed year. And thank you for letting me know about Richard Adams. I hadn’t heard the news yet about him, but I LOVED Watership Down and it’s sequel. And yes. Just put a tribute up for him as well. And now I’m going to slam my head repeatedly against the nearest wall.😕

I’ll have to keep an eye out for it. I’ve noticed they keep adding more and more to Netflix but I rarely get around to checking much out. Watched more TV lately though than I had in a long time after my surgery since I kept conking out trying to read. LOL

If you have not seen her one person show about her life, it is worth the watch. I loved the spunk she brought to Princess Leia. Also, remember her in “When Harry Met Sally?” Thanks for the tribute, Keith

Thanks Keith. I haven’t seen her show, but I certainly would like to. I did read Wishful Drinking which I think she wrote after the show? I loved her in Harry Met Sally as well!

Dear Kim,
This is such sad tidings. She was looking forward to celebrating the holidays with family and this news, must have been devastating. At my age, it is a reminder as to how temporary our stay on earth is and that every day is a gift She was way to young at 60 yrs. and George Michael at 53.
Debbie Reynolds at 84 shouldn’t have to say good bye to her child.
Hugs, Gronda.

I can’t even imagine. As devastated as her legions of fans are, my God. Her poor family. And the same for George Michael. I read something his boyfriend wrote about his life being just shattered which was heartbreaking.😔 I completely agree with what you’ve said Gronda. Our time here on earth is fleeting and every day is indeed a gift. It’s also a reminder to try to make the most of each and every day.🤗

Both were too young but both led complicated lives which takes its toll.

😦 How sad! I want to read her book that just came out this year. I just watched “Postcards from the Edge.” It’s based on her life.

I’m on hold for The Princess Diarist at my library. I also thought Postcards From the Edge, both the book and the movie, were brilliant!

Was the “Postcards from the Edge” book better than the movie? I’ll probably get the e-book or paperback. It takes me forever to read books now. Lol. I read different books at the same time so maybe that’s why.

Carrie also wrote the screenplay for Postcards, so I guarantee if you liked the movie you’ll also enjoy the book!

Postcards From The Edge was a moving film, and a story of a troubled youth.
I liked her cameo in The Blues Brothers too.
Four years younger than me. It’s a miracle I woke up this morning, the way things are going…
Best wishes, Pete.

Thanks, Kim. I am fine, I was just alluding to the fact that so many people younger than me are dying! Perhaps it was in bad taste, on reflection.

I’m glad to hear that Pete. And I don’t think what you said was in bad taste at all. One of the first things I said to my husband after hearing the news about George Michael was that he was only two years older than me and two years younger than him.😕

This. Year. Is. The. Worst. Ever! I just posted about Debbie Reynolds. The very first movie I saw her in was Singin In the Rain when they showed it on tv. My sister and I copied all the dances from that movie and performed them whenever and for whomever we could!

I felt so sad when I heard, Carrie was only on The Graham Norton Show a couple of days before. Younger viewers will never understand the effect Star Wars had all those years ago, I went to the cinema not having a clue what to expect, I doubt I even realised it was a space movie! Then after screening I came out having been blown away by this incredible story and I’m afraid younger viewers can never re capture the shock of not knowing what to expect. Sad news ;(

It really is. Not only have we lost a talented actress, but a wonderful advocate for the mentally ill and people who are addicted.😔
LikeLiked by 1 person
When I read about her heart attack, I felt ice in my veins. She was so groundbreaking not only for cinema, but as an advocate for mental health. She didn’t try to hide it or pretend it didn’t exist, and representation matters. Having someone of that fame caliber come out and say “I’m bipolar” did so much for people who can claim the same. The stigma around mental illness is still thick, and the only thing that will help dispel it is to make it visible and known. Carrie had the bravery to do so, and she’ll be sorely missed for that as well as for what she did as Princess/General Leia ;_;
