Another Bigoted Hate Crime, In Which Two Heroes Lost Their Lives And Another Was Severely Injured. Response From Mr. Trump…Silence.
*Update: Late this morning Mr. Trump finally addressed this, three days after the attack and only after much urging from others. Interestingly, his response isn’t on his personal Twitter account, but his official POTUS one which begs the question of whether the tweet was even written by him.

The horrific act on 5/26/17 by a White Supremacist’s brutal knife-stabbing attack against three brave men who came to the rescue of two young Muslim women on a Portland, Oregon train ride was no less an act of terrorism than what the republican President Donald Trump has been warning Americans to be fearful of, from Muslim refugees seeking asylum in the USA.
There were two men killed in this hate-filled act of terrorism and a third man has been hospitalized due to knife wounds.
I WOULD EXPECT PRESIDENT TRUMP to speak out personally against this rising tide of Islamophobia and other forms of bigotry and racism in our country that he has inadvertently provoked through his numerous statements and policies that have had a negative impact on minority communities.

I agree Eddy. There is no way he wrote this. One of his minions sent it out after a public outcry which included an open letter from Dan Rather. It’s pretty pathetic when the public has to basically beg for a response from the WH to a racist attack.😒

And to think this incident started with this horrible racist screaming at two young girls because one of them was wearing a hijab. And similar things are happening all over the country, although thankfully the majority of them result in physical violence. I can’t even imagine being a minority right now. I mean, there’s always been racism here, but it’s becoming more and more prevalent.😒

Oh God. What happened last week at the Manchester Arena was just horrible. While they’re definitely in the minority, the hatred that some people have, no matter their religion, is frightening.

Absolutely horrifying and tragic. I’m glad this man is being called a terrorist because that’s exactly what he is! I don’t imagine Trump would have anything intelligent or heart-felt to say on the matter, unfortunately.

He is indeed a terrorist Sarah, but because he’s a white man who was going after two teenage girls before turning violent against their rescuers, the WH won’t use the appropriate name. You may have heard that Mr. Trump never tweeted about this on his personal Twitter account. And, I sincerely doubt the one put forth from his POTUS account was actually written by him.

I’ve seen articles already alluding to him being mentally ill or on drugs. They don’t even consider that side of things when an act is committed by a person of colour or a person of a particular religion or creed. It’s so frustrating.
And yes, I can’t imagine they’d let him comment on this on the POTUS account without at least having someone looking over his shoulder. He is a very sick man. He incites this violence and has nothing worthwhile to say when it happens…

It is tragic when women of any race or religion have to be defended from abuse on public transport, and even more so when it ends in deaths like these. If it had been a Muslim attacker abusing white women, who then killed two men who came to their aid, the story would have been given a very different emphasis indeed.
In 2017, it is heartening to see that there are still men ready to intervene, and to do the right thing, at the risk of their own lives. I am not sure that I would have been brave enough myself, so those courageous men should be rightly honoured.

My daughter’s best friend was present when this occurred. It is terrifying and sad. I really cannot stomach reflecting on it much more at the moment if that makes sense. I am praying for all involved.

Surprisingly well. I mean it is difficult, but I think kids are sometimes amazingly resilient. She is saddened more than anything. We live in Portland, but haven’t experienced much like this. But we do know it happens 😦

Sadly, I think the entire world is fascinated with his tweeting Andrew. This morning when once again your country has shown their best in the face of horrific tragedy, Trump first uses Twitter to try to justify his Muslim ban, then sends off a brief tweet offering our support, then sends another tone deaf tweet about gun rights, before finally managing to completely twist the words of the London Mayor. I would just like to bring up once again that Trump did not win the popular vote and does not represent the views of the majority of U.S. citizens.😒

Oh dear that’s quite upset me, the BBC referred to his Muslim ban Tweet, but I didn’t realise ‘s been having a go at our Muslim Mayor YET again!!!! I only hope he’s not given a State visit, God knows what would happen ;(

I miss him so much! I know he wasn’t perfect, but I believe with all my heart he cared deeply not only for our country, but for the other nations of the world. It really makes me wish we didn’t have an 8 year term limit for the Presidency.😞
