JULY 4, 2017. THE DAY NPR TRIED TO START A REVOLUTION…NOT! Thank you Gronda for shining a light on this terribly sad affair.
On July 4, 2017, NPR News tweeted the entire US Constitution to honor the US July 4th Independence day, our day of celebrating when this country broke away from the United Kingdom to become the USA.
But conservatives who were not familiar with this famous document took offense to certain passages which they believed described the republican President Donald Trump in an unflattering way. And they responded, accordingly.
Dear Conservatives, “Methinks thou protest too much.”
Here is the rest of the story...
On July 5, 2017, Jeremy Binckes of Salon penned the following report along with a transcript of US Constitution that some on the right found so offensive, “NPR’s Declaration of Independence tweet-storm angered some Trump supporters.”

From over here, it seems that the only thing American right-wingers understand about their own constitution is ‘The Right To Bear Arms’. This was a great spoof by NPR, exposing so much ignorance, and dangling a bait that was snapped up by the ignorant.
Best wishes, Pete.

I do believe you’re right Pete. And what’s especially sad about this is that NPR didn’t bait them intentionally. They have been reading the Declaration of Independence on their Morning Edition for 29 years. This year, given the popularity of Twitter, they put it on there as well. Who could have predicted the brouhaha that resulted?😒

This was hilarious. Just pure, wilful ignorance on display. It is so sad that America is being defined by the lowest common denominator nowadays.

Americans need a civics lesson. What a great irony that the far right wing who hold up the constitution as ‘holy’ don’t even recognize it when they read it!

Sad times Kim, I know this comment is off the topic but the BBC announced today ‘South Park’ is laying off the Trump jokes and Trump Jr. is nearly having orgasms on Twitter celebrating.
Ok S.P. isn’t everyone’s cup of tea (for me it’s tooo crass and juvenile but that’s ok) HOWEVER the show adheres to principles of Freedom of expression and it’s a shame if media bosses are attempting to silence free speech? 🙂

I hadn’t heard about that Andrew. Given the creators of South Park, I’m surprised that they’d back off.
