So, the man who received five deferments from Vietnam is now saying that transgender people who wish to serve their country, can’t. And, additionally leaves in jeopardy the careers of the already 15,000 trans troops already serving. To say I’m sickened and disgusted doesn’t quite sum up my feelings. Let’s just say there was a lot of swearing in my house this morning. And don’t forget, this is the man who during a 1993 appearance on Howard Stern’s show said:
You know, if you’re young, and in this era, and if you have any guilt about not having gone to Vietnam. We have our own Vietnam. It’s called the dating game.
I could continue with my rant, but instead I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone, including transgenders who serve in our military and continually put their lives on the line.
Prejudice is a great time saver. You can form opinions without having to get the facts.
