After the latest threats from North Korea and its leader Kim Jong Un, and an analysis of the Defense Intelligence Agency that reports that the country has produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead, Mr. Trump issued this ultimatum this afternoon:
North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen…he has been very threatening beyond a normal state. They will be met with fire, fury and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before.
Ironically, yesterday and tomorrow mark the 72nd anniversary of the United States bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
During the campaign, Saturday Night Live ended one of it’s Weekend Updates with this:
Hmm. It’s not so funny now. I’m retreating to my de facto Happy Place. You’re all welcome to join me.
Keep calm, and open the red wine, Kim. That’s my fallback position…
Best wishes, Pete.

Once again the Great Pumpkin at his non-presidential best – making America ‘great’ again by threatening to use bombs instead of diplomacy. Wait…diplomacy is a sane option. Never mind.
It doesn’t help that Jong Un is just as unstable. If the rest of the world leaders had a clue, they’d lock the two of them in a room with a Rubik’s Cube and a jar of Nutella and let the rest of us live our lives.
It also doesn’t speak well of either country that their citizens allow these two to run around unsupervised with access to nuclear and biological weapons of mass destruction.

Both of them are absolutely crackers, and should not be leading their countries, let alone being in charge of weapons that can wipe us all out! I love your suggestion though of locking the two of them in a room together with a Rubik’s Cube and a jar of Nutella though! That’s priceless!😂

I say we add to Felicia’s suggestion and make sure the boys are completely naked so they can figure out once and for all who’s got the biggest dick.

Very clear parallels can be draw between Trump and Kim Jong Un and that is concerning. However, Trump is to much of a political lightweight to start a war intentionally. But, he might start one unintentionally. Our intelligence agencies and military should give us comfort that we will be protected.

See, that’s what I’m afraid of Daniel. Trump starting something out of sheer stupidity. North Korea has already threatened Guam because of our flyover. Right now I can’t imagine what their response is going to be tomorrow to Trump’s bombastic rhetoric. And the other thing that worries me is that while an outright declaration of war has to be approved by Congress, the president does have a certain amount of leeway, especially if North Korea acts first. And don’t forget, Trump is not known for listening to his aides and advisors, even his ones from the military.

Funny thing is, most South Koreans didn’t even care about what the north said. I’m unsure if that has changed, since it’s been so chaotic lately

This is clearly a dangerous situation, and history has shown that stupid decisions come when either side postures too much – let’s hope there are still intelligent people behind the scenes – not sure if you ever saw this, but I posted a story about life inside North Korea – sobering –

I’ve just this minute watched Trump’s ‘Fire and Fury like the world has never seen’ press conference, makes your heart sink doesn’t it Kim. 😦 I wasn’t around at the time of the Cuban missile crisis but I guess the best we can hope for is both America and Korea take us to the brink then both back down………………
trouble is Trump is no John F. Kennedy, so I guess the best we can hope for is there’s hopefully enough sane diplomats working their asses off behind the scenes. Finger’s crossed 🙂

I don’t even know why I’m shocked anymore Andrew. I missed the Cuban Missile Crisis too Andrew. What scares me about this though, is we have two impulsive, mentally unstable leaders involved. And while I’m sure people from the State Department are trying to calm things down, how much can they do with a maniac as president who pops out with whatever hits his feeble little mind at the time? I’ll bet no one had a clue he was planning on his little “Fire and Fury” speech.😟

Does the American Constitution contain mechanisms where by if a President shows symptoms of clinical insanity (now virtually proven 😦 ) he can be ousted? I’m not trying to be humorous Kim just I’ve never heard this discussed over here. (In the UK recent health information has come to light revealing past PM’s have had serious health problems, such as PM Eden was secretly taking drugs during the Suez crisis yet this was covered up for decades! 😀 And don’t get me started on Thatcher!)

The 25th Amendment to the Constitution, Section 4, actually does allow the Vice President to be appointed as Acting President, if the President is found to be unfit by the VP, and 8 cabinet members. It’s extremely complicated though. The President could argue that he is fit, in which case the decision falls to Congress who has to agree by a 2/3 majority. This has already been discussed in the media because of Trump’s erratic behavior, and I’ll bet you anything that it’s being discussed behind closed doors in Congress after his remarks of yesterday.
I didn’t know about MPs Eden and Thatcher. I’m going to have to look that up.

It’s going to be especially ironic if China and Russia are the ones who put out the flames.

It’s very much in their interests to do so, because both see an opportunity to become the “world leader” in the absence of any effective leadership from the US. I’m sure either one of them — and my guess is it’ll be China — will be eager to sit Kim Jon-un down and spell out a few harsh realities, then accept the worldwide laurels for having saved the day.

Oh, I could happening. And wouldn’t they be thrilled given that they’ve been supplying money and parts for North Korea’s arsenal? Talk about having your cake and eating it to! But the thing is, that Trump, erratic as he is, is a bit of a wild card in this. And, Kim Jong UN isn’t playing with a full deck either.

Good god, what is wrong with this man!? With the threat of nuclear war looming on the horizon, this is not how Trump should be responding! It’s akin to poking an already angry bear with a stick. What does he think is going to happen? North Korea will back down? No, Kim Jong Un is just as unstable as him and stupid, thoughtless remarks like this just add fuel to the fire! Trump forgets about all the other countries who are in the literal firing line should North Korea decide to embark upon a nuclear attack.
It shows his mentality when his only response is counter threats…
