I’m so glad! I thought it was the perfect way to finish off Banned Books Week.😊

Maurice Sendak was a brilliant American children’s author Vinnie which makes the fact that this has been challenged and banned so many times since it was published, especially aggravating.😒

Why has it been banned? I don’t understand.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Mainly because of religious/supernatural elements in it. Also, some parents objected to it on the grounds that it encourages rebellion against parental authority.

The way I see it, it’s a book. The intention is not to stir up rebellion but to tell a story.

People can just be ignorant Vinnie.

Is that book ‘banned’ too? I haven’t read it, but it looks great for kids.
Best wishes, Pete.

Sadly it’s been one of the most widely challenged and banned children’s book. It’s an American classic and winner of Caldecott Award which is given out once a year to the most outstanding picture book as well.😒

Seriously weird how some things end up being banned for no single good reason: and a children’s book at that. Totally strange 😞

I’ve learned over the years that you just can’t argue with these people Michel. I learned to basically ignore them and their requests.

Great book. People have to learn to move on if they don’t like something.

Wow, I had no idea this book was challenged/banned before! It’s such a wonderful children’s classic and I had no idea. Thanks for sharing. It’s always great to learn new things! 🙂

That is sad. I’m glad it conquered those who would keep it from the world though. I think it’s a great book. 🙂
