What is now being described as the deadliest mass shooting here in the U.S. took place shortly after 10:00 last night. While approximately 22,000 country music fans were gathered on the Last Vegas Strip, a man who police are describing as a “lone wolf” and a local of the Las Vegas area opened fire, killing at least 58 people and injuring 515+. Police have identified him as a 64-year-old man who lived in a nearby retirement community. Yes, that’s right. A retiree for some God knows what reason decided to kill as many innocents as possible. The images coming out are horrific with concertgoers, including children, fleeing from the gunfire and ducking for cover. Naturally the motive is not known yet, but it’s difficult to imagine what would cause a retiree with no criminal record commit one of the worst massacre in U.S. history. My heart is breaking right now and I’m not going to point my finger or assign blame because all I can think of is the victims. I hope that no one here in our blogging community was there or had family or friends attending this celebration of country music. My thoughts and prayers go out to Las Vegas.

Just reading up on this and it just boggles my mind. I can’t help but think of the many many concerts and events I’ve attended myself over the years and it just gives me chills. My heart goes out to all those that were there just enjoying the night like folks should be able to do. 😦

I’ve only been to a few concerts, including a Jason Aldean one, but I remember how packed in we were. This guys knew exactly what he was doing.

A good friend of mine, messages me at work about this. Some of her friends were in America attending this concert, but luckily they are uninjured. I seriously don;t understand what the world is coming to anymore. Just when you think things can’t get any worse, something like this happens. It’s truly awful 😢

The easy availability of automatic firearms and large amounts of ammunition allows things like this to happen. Unless the American people are prepared to address their second amendment obsession, you can undoubtedly expect more events like this one. It’s all just too sad.

Omg Kim this is terrible, this morning in the workshop we were all circled round the PC monitor watching BBC News video’s, awful I couldn’t watch and he fired the gun for so long!!! Quite upset me possibly because the UK has some of the tightest laws in the world! I’ve never seen a pistol never held one and never want to. Afterwards we got into a discussion about the US constitution and the Right to Bare Arms! I’m happy as we are, thinking of you all, Andrew.

I have no words. My 27-year-old nephew was right there running for his life. He said he has never been so scared in all his life. He didn’t know which way to run and he was hearing there were multiple shooters in various casinos. Total chaos! We are so thankful he is okay.
Something HAS to be done about all these senseless shootings.

So very sad-It is incomprehensible to me why someone would want to do this. It’s bad enough when someone hurts someone they know, but these were people he had never met who had not done anything to him.

My heart is broken for everyone that was there and for all the family and friends affected by this too. It’s all so horrific.
Look at who the man’s father was. CHILLING!
On a huge positive note, our Nevada community is rallying together and we’re having two huge blood drives for Vegas. I spent all morning texting, facebooking people to go and the response is amazing.

You never know what is in someone’s head. These shootings just seem to feed off each other. People see them as a way to get attention for themselves or for their cause. Unfortunately, that makes it scary to congregate anywhere anymore. I’m rather happy that I live in a very small town in a very sparsely populated region.

This is heartbreaking. I can’t imagine what a terrifying experience that was. One minute you are enjoying music and the next you are either dead or running for your life. Words fail me. Praying for everyone touched by this tragedy.

It’s outrages what’s going on in this world. A pastor my church knows had two girls in his church who stopped attending church, well anyways these two girls went to this concert and a girl that was inches away from them got shot in the head and died instantly. It’s sad.

When we didn’t pass sensible gun control measures after school children were massacred in Newtown, I pretty much gave up Brad. And now we have a Republican Congress and a President who’s in bed with the NRA.

It’s very upsetting. I came down to LV today to show my support. When tourism goes down, they suffer. Going to a lantern festival this weekend and going to put my thoughts on my lantern.

It one of the most horrific mass shootings that’s happened here. It makes you wonder exactly what it’s going to take for the NRA and and Rebublicans to acknowledge that we need common sense gun control.
