I know I usually do a Whimsical Wednesday post here, but to be honest, with everything going on right now in Washington, I don’t have a single drop of whimsy in me. So, I found this quote by one of my favorite authors and thought I’d share it instead due to its relevance. I promise next Wednesday I’ll have another whimsical post that will hopefully make you all smile.
Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought. To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears. To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool. To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen. To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies. To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.
Author, Octavia Butler
Who can argue with this Kim?

Wow, Kim! What a perfect quote and it has so much significance to our current political stance! Thanks so much for sharing! I have never checked out this author but MUST!☺

Thanks Dani. I’m just so disgusted by everything that’s going on right now, and these words really are so relevant. And, Octavia Butler is one of the BEST syfy authors out there!

Well….these words are certainly very relevant, especially considering the buffoon that is currently running your country (sorry, I can never call that man by a normal name, he just brings out the worst in me 😥).
Beautiful words though, that’s for sure 😀

Great quote, Kim!
As I wrote back in September, Octavia Butler ‘helped eradicate the genre’s entrenched science fiction image as “male, pale and stale”’ but still having a hard time trying to find her books!
I know what u mean about not having a single drop of whimsy (at th mo, I am reading M John Harrison and Roger Zelazny to shut out both UK and US “political” stupidity!)
Sorry to keep u waiting: got 3 different Posts on th go and hope to Publish th first one that makes any legible sense! 🙂

I remember your post about her Brad. Argh. I can’t believe you’re still having a hard time finding her books. Nothing on Amazon UK or Book Depository?

Argh yeah! There’s always Amazon, th easy option, but it is unbelievable how all 6 of th libraries within my area – and any secondhand bookshops I visit – simply do not have any of her titles!
When I have ordered/studied some of her titles, u will certainly read about them on my site
Thanks, Kim 🙂

Great quote. A coward, a fool, a thief, a liar, a tyrant. I could add a few more words but I’m a southern gentleman and refuse to stoop to trump’s cesspool.

I could think of a few choice words as well Larry.

I need to read her Parable of the Sower, but I really need to be mentally prepared for it, because I’ve heard that it is intense.
