No, I don’t mean love, when I say patriotism. I mean fear. The fear of the other. And its expressions are political, not poetical: hate, rivalry, aggression.

Good quote. I have never considered myself to be patriotic either.
Best wishes, Pete.

I think love of ones country is fine, but never blindly. And “patriotism” is overused.😕

They seem to be appearing on other blogs fine with notifications. Oh well, I’m not going to let this get me down.

I’m sorry Vinnie. Yours are the only ones I’m having problems with so I don’t think it’s a glitch in my settings.🤷🏻♀️

I would never have thought of patriotism like that but … she is right somehow! Happy Friday Kim!

I’ve thought for awhile now that the word “patriotism” is being overused. And what really brought it home to me was the rise of Trump and more recently his attacks on sport players who kneel during the national anthem.
Happy Friday Dear Sophie!🤗

I’d have to say The Earthsea Cycle, because that was my first exposure to her writing. I also loved The Left Hand of Darkness, The Dispossessed, and The Lathe of Heaven.😊
