Young people have helped lead all our great movements. How inspiring to see it again in so many smart, fearless students standing up for their right to be safe; marching and organizing to remake the world as it should be. We’ve been waiting for you. And we’ve got your backs.

There are more good people in this world than bad, they just need to make themselves heard.

I really, really hope that this is finally the moment when everyone wakes up, and says enough is enough. These young people should offer enough inspiration to do that hopefully. 😊

If there was anything good to come out of recent events it is the resistance to acceptance, control is in the hands of the victims for a change and I for one hope they can keep the momentum going.

Hadn’t even seen any media coverage on any of these events but yet those that are making threats and getting arrested are making the news every time you turn it on.

There’s been a lot of coverage on cable news like CNN and MSNBC. Are you talking about teen activists making threats and getting arrested Carrie? Or the possible “school shooters” in the making?

I was talking our local news covering the threats and those bringing weapons to schools etc. The “bad” ones in other words while the good stories aren’t shown. And like I said it seems like something like bringing a gun to school to post a picture on social media is more attention seeking than a true threat so maybe if the media wasn’t constantly showing all the bad they wouldn’t look for their 15 minutes of fame that way.

I do think there is too much attention paid to possible copycats Carrie.

The thing is that most of the time when something like this happens no one ever expected it. It’s not like the ones that truly snap and do something so horrific were posting pics of weapons to social media or making outright threats against other students or the school.

There’s a story here all over the Boston news about an 18 year old threatening two security guards, telling them he had an AR-15. His face is literally plastered everywhere. Meanwhile, Saturday morning, a 22 year old first year medical student was stabbed to death in the reading room of the Winchester Public Library. The murderer is a mentally disturbed man with a history of making threats against neighbors and exhibiting violent behavior. He stabbed her 20 times before being subdued by witnesses! All I could think of is thank God MA has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country. If he had a gun…

I don’t exactly want to hide my head in the sand and ignore the bad but it would be nice to see the good students out there that are taking steps to make the world better too and there isn’t much shown of that, locally anyway.

Finger crossed Lashaan. BT W, I’m sorry I haven’t been on Bookidote much lately. I have a lot going on at the moment and my health hasn’t been great.

Hi, I’ve been reading some of your political comment like I used to, these school shootings are truly horrific, perhaps one day there’ll be sensible legislation as well as protecting the rights of lAmerican citizens. You may remember me, its Andrew from Oxford well I just wanted to say hi again, a long upsetting story why I had to delete so quickly and lol I’m NOT sure if I’ll be on WP much, probably not but for old times sake I just wanted to say hi again.

Hi Andrew. Of course I remember you. I was worried when you disappeared. I hope everything’s okay? I just followed your new blog so I’ll be exploring ASAP.

🙂 The short story is someone I know discovered my blog, everything is fine now and the problem was my doing. I think the lesson, for me to learn is take care when referring to people and places by name.

I’m so sorry. I’m glad you’re back though. You really do have to be careful. Someone, for God knows what reason, hacked into my Goodreads account and deleted it. I lost almost five years of reviews, friends and followers.😒
