That’s so true Shalini. I’m okay. Just dealing with migraine, fibro and neuropathy issues. I need to trade myself in for a new model.🙇🏻♀️

That is pain in all areas honey… I can only send you all my healing vibes so that you feel better.
Newer model?? Hmmm is there any plot that you plan to be Eve Dallas? 😉
On a serious note, let me know if I can help you in any way

Yeah. I’m going out of my mind right now.😥 I do wish they’d come up with a cure for migraines. When I have a bad one like this that drags on for days it tends to make my fibro and neuropathy worse.😞
I’d love to be Eve! ☺️

I have no idea why the migraine meds don’t work for some people. I do get stress headaches but paracetamol works..
Docs don’t know much about brain, that’s the whole problem. It has both functions and structures and we really don’t know how it all works.
They talk about pathways and types and centres etc. But I still remember my anatomy dissection, the brain was just a spongy tissue.
There were no pathways no centres, just different parts. With CT and MRI and functional MRI, they know something
But I don’t believe they know more than 30%. They can’t make medicines for something they barely understand.
The migraine must be triggering the other pains. Would you try meditation once this pain is decreased?

It is frustrating Shalini. I’ve been on prophylactic meds, but they either don’t work, work only for a few months, or have horrible side effects. And I’ve tried triptans for abortive relief, but for some reason they cause this burning pain in my head. Right now I take 50 mgs of Elavil at night, and for abortive meds I rely on Excedrin for migraines, and when I have an out of control one, Fioricet. And of course there’s ice packs which help. I do meditation exercises and I’d love to try acupuncture but it’s too expensive.

Do you get an aura before the migraine? Generally if medicines are taken in the aura it works. Prophylactic don’t work, as their potency decreases with regular use.
An ibuprofen paracetamol combination works extremely well but docs in India too don’t prescribe. But it works fabulously for me… Would you get ibuprofen over the counter? Apparently on your end, it is advil or motrin as trade name.

I don’t. I’ve tried ibuprofen but it doesn’t work as well as the Excedrin for migraines which has aspirin, caffeine and acetaminophen.

I know I checked.. Will the newer painkillers work? Not the narcotics but the other ones. Sometimes some different combinations work… I wish I could help you more. In India, things are easy, about the painkillers. At your end, I think you need a prescription

The only new-ish painkillers I know about are the triptans. And yes, you do need prescriptions for both those and narcotics here. Narcotics are tricky right now because we have a huge drug abuse problem here and doctors are reluctant to prescribe them. I’m getting ready to see a new doctor actually, and I’m a little nervous she’s going to give me a hard time about the fioricet even though it’s a milder narcotic than Percocet or OxyContin. I’m praying she’s okay with it because for my really bad migraines it’s the only thing that works. BTW Shalini, thanks for all your advice.🤗

Fiorcet has acetaminophen painkiller caffeine is coffee butalbital which is a sedative.. So you are not on any kind of narcotics honey… I may not know a lot of new brain meds but butalbital is mildly addictive in high dosages. But you will need a prescription. Also narcotics don’t help in migraines. So in migraines only painkillers work.
You know when I was studying, our old time professor used to tell us no coffee no tea during headaches. But now caffeine is used in every headache drug…
Just an observation. For some caffeine chocolate cheese are triggers for migraine…
Kim I don’t know much about headaches, but I can read up the medical literature and explain whatever I can understand and what I know from personal experience.
Please don’t take narcotics ever for this. Please

Thank you so much Shalini for all your help. I never have taken any hardcore narcotics for my migraines, although here, some doctors consider butalbital a narcotic and others don’t. It’s very confusing. What I’m hoping is that because my Fioricet also doesn’t contain codeine that she’ll be okay with it. I’ve had a prescription for years now.
I definitely know all my food triggers: chocolate, cheese, tomatoes, alcohol, citrus… As far as caffeine goes I have a love/hate relationship with it. I can’t have too much, but in small amounts it definitely can help. Go figure!🤷🏻♀️

That’s great if caffeine helps, for me some days it does, some days it triggers. Also I get an aura, an uneasiness hence if I take meds in the aura it cuts the headache. Body always let’s you know Kim. But you just have to recognize it

Yay! I’ve had a fascination with him since I was a child Nicole. As far as this being whimsical, one of the definitions for the word is playfully quaint or fanciful. I’d say that perfectly describes Gorey.☺️
