Well, today’s the day where Senators will view the FBIs report on their “supplemental investigation” of Judge Kavanaugh. I’m not holding out much hope given the constraints that were put on the parameters of the investigation by the White House and Republicans. Neither am I hopeful that any of the so-called “swing votes,” Republican Senators Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Jeff Flake will vote with their conscience. No, this sham report will give them the excuse to vote with their party. Sadly, I believe within the next 48-72 hours another perjurer and sexual predator will join Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court. Since I shared my own story with you last Thursday, I’ve emailed a condensed version to my Senator, Susan Collins, and even though I’m not a constituent: Senators Murkowski, Flake, and Democrat Senators Heidi Heitkamp and Joe Manchin who are facing tough re-elections in Red states. I also included the link to an article that was featured in the Scientific American last week on the subject of trauma and memory, which John, from https://noirencyclopedia.wordpress.com so thoughtfully provided in his comments. Near the end of her four hour testimony last week there was this heartbreaking exchange between Democrat Senator Patrick Leahy and Dr. Ford:
On Tuesday night Mr. Trump mocked Dr. Ford at a rally in Mississippi.
Am I surprised that Mr. Trump erupted like an infected boil? Of course not. I’m shocked that it took five days for him to once again show vile he is. And while it hurt to watch, neither am I surprised at his syncophantic audience cheering and jeering. What dismayed me the most was that young boy who stood behind Trump to his left side, expressionless, just taking everything in. I truly fear what lasting impressions we are leaving on the next generation.
I know how tempting it is for many of us to throw up our hands and give up right now. I’m so depressed that I’d like nothing better than to crawl under my bed and hide until 2020. No matter what happens with Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, we have the opportunity to effect real change next month, so I beg of you, don’t sink into apathy, as tempting as it may be. Get out there and VOTE! Don’t let these past couple of weeks be for naught.

What a legacy these Repugs are leaving: elevating an accused sex offender and manifest perjurer to the Supreme Court.
Their shame will live beyond them. I pity the kids and grandkids of Grassley, McConnell and all, who will have to live with the calumny.

I think Graham has drastically reversed his public views on Trump because he’s hoping to be rewarded with a new position. I’m not sure if Graham is after Jeff Sessions’ job or another position, but Sessions will most-likely be canned.

My own suspicion is that Graham had a man-crush on John McCain (nothing wrong with that unless you’re an evangelical republican, of course), which is why foir so many years he helped present the moderate face of the GOP. (When it came to the crunch, of course, like Collins, Flake and Murkovski, he voted with the knuckledraggers, but that’s a separate issue.) Now that McCain’s dead, Graham has a new man-crush, one who lives in the White House. Hence this abrupt seeming personality change.
The result is, of course, that when the books are written about this period of US history, Graham’s name will be there alongside those of Grassley, McConnell, Hatch, Trump and several current members of the Supreme Court as facilitators of the collapse of US democracy.
“Make America Great Again”? They’ve got to be [REDACTED] joking.

Yep. And the most sickening part of all is that these liars, pedophiles, perjurers, tax frauds and sex offenders are almost all from the party that claims to be the voice of American Patriotism. And there are voters stupid enough to believe them.

I think that’s what discourages me the most John. The people who support them and keep them in power, usually while shouting to the rooftops about how religious they are.

Didn’t Lindsey Graham tweet: “If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed…and we will deserve it”? Graham also tweeted: “Any doubt left Trump is completely unhinged? His assertion Ted Cruz’s father was associated with Lee Harvey Oswald should remove ALL doubt.”
What a complete turn around. Political ambitions can really change a person’s public views towards someone they once seemed to despise.

He is a hideous human being and so are all the people cheering him for his disgusting words. How can women, in good conscience hold up a ‘Women for Trump’ sign? what kind of woman supports someone who brags about his position in society allowing him to sexually assault women.

I completely agree. I keep thinking in particular of that woman standing next to the boy. I’m assuming she’s his mother, and if that’s the case, I’m even more disgusted.

I have been asking myself this question for several years now. I do not understand it at all. How can any woman support Trump and now, with the Republicans shoving Kavanaugh through and standing beside him, how can these women support what the Republicans are doing? I do not understand it.

I feel the same way Theresa. I’ve tried so hard for the last three years to understand and be respectful of pro-Trump women, but I’m struggling now.

Great article. I understand how you are feeling but one vote does count. I can’t wrap my head around the thought process on the right. I think I do because I grew up in that hyper-religious Christianity but when I see these events as in past week, I have to shake my head and wonder WWJD? Yes, I will vote if only for the pleasure of making it count. I will go in person and cast my ballot because I still can. I hope others do the same. Thanks for sharing

That’s exactly it for me. I don’t recall the bit in the New Testament where Jesus says we should support predatory pedophiles, perjurers, tax frauds and sex offenders, but apparently the modern Christian Evangelical does.

Thank you so much. I was, by marriage, with the evangelical “religion” that is really Puritan theology and they are not really Christian at all, and for ten years I listened with outrage. They are so sick at heart. Mostly, they just feel women are inferior to men, should not be allowed to disobey their husbands, and should just shut up! They believe men own woman and so many more sicko ideas.

Kim, I know and it is so ironic. Evangelicals used to be able to take children away from their mother, if she did not follow her husband and do exactly what he wanted, in every way. I feel sick at heart.

Please, please, please don’t do what Russian propagandists and marketing experts would want by getting down tin the dumps where they successfully suppress voter turnout.
We lost a skirmish but we will lose the war if we quit to mend. We’re women. We’re warriors. Get out there and roar, knowing we are voting to have Dr. Ford’s and the millions of other voices, heard. Get out there and vote.
You already know that I’ve been thinking that 10/6/18 was just one chapter. My son tweeted me that this may be a blessing in disguise as this buys Democrats time but it is crucial that peoples in record numbers get out to vote this November 2018.
If the GOP Grumpy Old Perverts in the US Senate Judiciary Committee had selected a proper nominee, there would be little we could do to fix the Supreme Court tilting far right. But now there is hope. In their arrogance, the GOP senators backed the wrong horse because they believed their man is a good guy who was having his reputation ruined by those left leaning democrats who were out to destroy their friend.
They never for an instance really believed Dr. Ford. Any women who has ever suffered any abuse could have told them that abusers often look great o the rest of the world.
Eventually, there will be proof developed backing the allegations by Dr. Ford and others. Those GOP old geezers will be faced with reality that they backed the wrong horse but by then it will not be so easy to have him replaced.
Impeachment may not be necessary. If there is solid proof, he may be forced to resign by his colleagues.
Keep in mind, that this story is just beginning.
