I’m so excited! The science fiction/fantasy Artemis Fowl series is comprised of eight books which were written by Irish author Eoin Colfer between 2001-2012. There are also graphic novel adaptations. Artemis is a brilliant teenage criminal mastermind who reluctantly becomes a hero over the course of the series. I’ve been hoping that this would be developed into a series since I finished the last book. Disney picked it up in 2016 and now there’s finally a release date for August 9th, 2019.
As you can guess I’m a little excited! This teaser trailer doesn’t quite capture the epicness of this series, but it’s pretty gosh darn close!

Eight books?! I remember reading the first three when I was younger and loved them – might have to revisit the series in time for this 🙂

I read the first five(?) when I was a teen, and then managed to forget all about them. I just recently finished the series by listening to the audiobooks. The narrator was really great!

It’s really a shame more people weren’t excited for this movie. Even fans of the series didn’t know. I spent the last summer reading the entire series, so I was incredibly SHOOK when I saw the trailer. When I had read the books, there were still contests in the back to be cast in the movie.
Also, how do you feel about Commander Root being played by Judi Dench?

I was very excited when I saw Disney had picked it up a couple of years ago, but then got a bit nervous when I heard about the delays. I love the looks of the trailer and as I’m a fan of Dame Judi, I’m thrilled with her casting as Commander Root.

Ahhhh!!! So THIS is what Fraggle was talking about! Ha ha! I’ve never read the Artemis Fowler books… I honestly didn’t even know what they were about! 😅 But, I had heard good things about them before. Guess I’ll have to try to squeeze them in… 8 books, though. 🤔
