Our nation is the enduring dream of every immigrant who ever set foot on these shores, and the millions still struggling to be free…this idea called America, was and always will be a new world.

I can’t honestly say I am mourning his loss that much, Kim. He had a good long and affluent life. Yes, he was a brave man in WW2. But so were so many others. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I understand Pete. I didn’t vote for him, but I felt his passing should be acknowledged.

I wasn’t too surprised Jeanne as his health had definitely gone downhill over the past few years.

I wasn’t that surprised either, but the news still saddened me.

Great quote. I just read the trump condolence response. No way those words came out of trump’s mouth.

Thanks Larry. I thought it was quite timely. I read Mr. Trump’s response and I agree, that was written by an aide.

He was a war hero, statesman and servant. I choose to focus on those attributes that made him greater than just president.

I agree Tony. I didn’t vote for him, but I did respect him for his service.

He’s not my cup of tea politically but I am glad you shared. So kind of you to post this regardless of your political views. Your such a kings woman.💜💛💜

Aww. Thanks Dani. Some of his later stances such as supporting the legalization of marriage for gay couples I gave him kudos for.

Definitely kudos for that. Sorry for such a late response.😱 My notifications have been so screwy.😵

You know Kim I still remember when he declared war in the nineties as I was at university … As Dani said he was not really my “cup of tea” politically but I know that having power and its responsibilities as a president must not be a piece of cake every day! Thanks for sharing.

I feel the same way Sophie. I actually think he did more good after his presidency. Being president is certainly something I would never wish to take on.

Didn’t necessarily agree with him politically, however he was a remarkable person, I heard last night because I’m on the West Coast and just watching the love from his family was telling for me!

This serves as a reminder that there can be civility in politics.

He did have a long life, so while it is sad it’s not a complete surprise. I don’t make a lot of comments about politics, but I’m not really impressed with anyone in politics. There has been so much nonsense from a lot of different sources, and it’s getting worse. Still, there will be nonsense anywhere you have people.

Yes, I wasn’t surprised either. While I didn’t care for him as President, I have to recognize what he did for this country, starting with his military service.
