For those of you who haven’t heard, Peter Mayhew, the original Chewbacca died on April 30th. This film icon not only played “Chewie” in the original Star Wars trilogy, episode 3 in the prequels, and the new trilogy. Outside of Hollywood he started the Peter Mayhew Foundation to support people in need of aid, including sending food and supplies to the children of Venezuela. Below is a tribute to the famous Wookie and the gentle giant who brought him to life.
Such sad news 😦 He was a great guy. And even sadder is to hear it just before Star Wars day.

Very sad news…I worked on some “Star Wars” convention coverage and he was well known as one of the “Good ones” – a class act – terrific tribute, I shared it as well.

I hadn’t heard about this, but I confess I never did know who was under Chewy’s make up. Always sad to lose someone so loved by fans.
Best wishes, Pete.

I watched a documentary about him years ago. Not only was he a fantastic actor, but he was also a wonderful humanitarian.

So sad, I had no idea he passed. “Met” him years ago at Sci-Fi convention and he seemed like such a nice guy. Makes me happy to hear that impression is shared by others.

I saw a documentary about him called “Standing in the Stars” a couple of years ago which covered his appearances at conventions and his double knee replacements. He seemed like such a thoroughly nice man.

Here is the other reason why I fell off the grid back in May…
Peter Mayhew’s loss hit me more than I’d imagined – the biggest upset since, well, Our Princess Carrie Fisher’s passing.
Dave Prowse was the only member of the OT that I’ve actually met – it would have been a great thrill to meet any of the main stars, but it would have been really special to have had a chat with Peter.
Amazing compilation vid, Kim, but it managed to exclude both of my fav Wookiee moments; I included them in my Tribute, as vid and gif respectively

Thanks Kim.
It’s ok, I surprised myself with my own reaction to the news, but I’ve managed to get back into my usual routine – fiction, reviews and articles – which I hope you will find quite amazing!
