When I first heard that there was going to be ANOTHER adaptation of one of my favorite literary classics, the first words out of my mouth were “Dear God, no!” After seeing the trailer I stand corrected.

Terrific…what a great cast and Greta Gerwig is an exceptional talent.

As of right now, my favorite adaptation is the 1994 movie With Winona Ryder as Jo. I think this just might take its place though. I loved Lady Bird, so I have high hopes, especially after seeing this trailer.

Agree, Lady Bird was beautifully done and this seems to have that same feel, with a touch of humor which is key

Wow, the cast alone is enough to make want to see this. Not sure if this is a movie for me, but like I said with such a talented cast I’m definitely willing to give it a try! 😊

I love Little Women, but I’ve gotten a little tired of all the various adaptations over the years. This has me surprisingly excited.

Winona will take some beating, in this 8th film adaptation of the books.
I really liked this BBC TV version, shown in three episodes, in 2017. Emily Watson, Michael Gambon, etc. Great cast!

Up until now I think Winona has definitely taken first place for her portrayal of Jo. From that trailer though, Saoirse Rónán is going to be giving her a run for her money.
I did see the miniseries on PBS here and thought everyone turned in solid performances.

Right?! I usually wait for movies to come out on dvd or streaming but I do believe I’ll splurge on tickets for this.

I haven’t even seen the one with Winona Rider yet! I guess I need to hurry up with that one. This looks like it’s going to be great.

It’s fascinating to wonder what the authors who wrote decades or centuries ago would think of the film adaptations they never got the chance to see! Would Louisa May Alcott have approved of any adaptation? Or, if they had film back then, would she maybe have written a screenplay herself? The things we’ll never know…

I’m excited to see the movie, too. Much of it was filmed here in Groton and Harvard, Massachusetts, yet that seems like quite a while ago. Watching the snow machine in the filming was fascinating.

I grew up and lived in MA until 2018, so I was quite pleased that they filmed the majority of it there.

It was exciting. I was pleased, too. And it was appropriate with Concord a stone’s throw away. So glad to know you lived here. 🙂
