Jessye Norman, one of the greatest Sopranos the world has ever known, sadly passed away on Monday. Jessye won four Grammy awards and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy in 2006. She was the youngest recipient, at age 52, in a two-decade history, of a Kennedy Center Honor in 1997. In 2009 she was presented with a National Medal of Arts by President Obama. Her voice was so pure and exquisite I get chills every time I listen to her perform. May you sing with the angels Jessye.
