Hi Everyone. I apologize for being missing since Sunday. We had a severe storm system move through Southeast Alabama late Sunday into early Monday. Much to my relief, it didn’t spawn any tornadoes unlike other areas of the South, but we had several hours of wild and windy weather, which briefly knocked out the power, which in turn knocked out the internet. After several hours of it briefly coming back on, only to shut down again, it looks like it’s back, fingers crossed. I’m going to try to catch up with everyone’s posts, but please forgive me if I miss any. I hope everyone is still safe and well.
Apologies For Being MIA

Thanks Carla. I wish they could do something about the internet going out for 24+ hours at a time whenever the power goes out.

Thanks Fraggle. The weather service confirms at least nine tornadoes hit AL Sunday night, but our county was spared.

Thanks Tiana. In the grand scheme of things a day or so of no internet is fairly minor.🤗

Glad you’re doing ok. We got some of that storm system here yesterday, mostly strong winds. Thousands lost power, including me. The power went out about 10am and didn’t come back on until 8pm. Some around here won’t have it back until tomorrow or Thursday, they’re saying.

Thanks Jeanne. I forget which state you’re in. Ironically, our power only cut out completely for about 2-3 minutes, but since we’ve moved here every time we lose it, even briefly, we lose the internet sometimes for 24-48 hours. I’m glad your power is back.

Scary stuff! I’m glad that the tornadoes missed you, Kim. How did the early settlers manage when their internet went out? I’m pretty much a basket case when that happens to me.

I guessed those storms would cause you to lose the connection, Kim. Happy to know you came out safe, but sad to read of so many people dying in the storms.
Best wishes, Pete.

We’re very lucky Pete, in that our city doesn’t get hit by tornadoes that often. Of course that doesn’t stop me from worrying.

Thanks Jennie. We had another close call last night. I heard my first tornado warning siren. Could have done without that experience!😒

I have often wondered what it would be like to hear that, especially in the middle of the night. How frightening, especially for children. So, when you hear the siren, do you immediately evacuate to a safe place? I can’t even imagine.

Maybe he grew up with the sirens as a child. We don’t have those in Massachusetts, as you know. He really fell back asleep?
