This is a wonderful post from Jacob on the controversy regarding J.K. Rowling’s views on transgenders. In addition, she also just posted a response on her website which you can find here: https://www.jkrowling.com

It’s difficult when your idols wind up having feet of clay.

I liked harry potter at the age i read it and do not see myself revisiting it any time soon. JK should just not post her views like that, have people not learned that social media is a toxic thing yet with what stuff has happened in the past? Nope I guess…
In a world where everyone is quick to judge it might just be best to speak kond word in the hope of receiving kind echo’s…

I reread them every few years or so, and I think I can keep them separate from Rowling herself.

I have kept out of this recent debate. I have great respect for Transgender people, but I am not one, nor am I a woman. So I leave others better qualified to discuss this. I was amazed that Rowling wasn’t more careful in the current climate though. But if she never sells another book, she is rich enough to live in luxury for the rest of her days.
Best wishes, Pete.

I haven’t said much on this either Pete. I reread the HP series (which I own) every few years or so, and thus far I’ve been able to keep the books separate from the author.

I am usually able to separate actors in films from their comments too. In most cases. 🙂

I definitely feel that no one is perfect. But the damage has been done. However I agree separating the art from the artist is the only way that HP can not be tarnished. 💛

I personally feel the books have moved beyond their creator. That said, I’m not going to be buying anything new from her.
