I hope this Friday finds you all well and safe. Here’s the latest from Alabama. There are now 22,474 people who have tested positive for COVID-19, and 751 have tragically lost their lives. From last week, that’s a difference of 3,708 confirmed cases and 100 more lives lost. As you can see, that’s quite a jump, and while some of that is due to increased testing, it’s a very small piece of it. Over the last week hospitalizations have averaged 33.7 per day, their highest since the pandemic began. Our state has also seen approximately 14 deaths a day over the last 7 days. That’s an all-time high since May 15. I don’t know what else to say. I’ve ranted about people behaving selfishly and irresponsibly, but I know I’m preaching to the choir here on WP. As I’ve said previously, I suspect things are going to get even worse, and I don’t know what it’s going to take to wake people up. One of my neighbors was complaining the other day about the CDC guidelines and how ridiculous he thinks they are. This is a guy who’s in his late 50s and has health problems. He asked me if I really thought wearing a mask on my trips to the laundry room or to the grocery store, protected me. After taking a deep breath and mentally counting to ten I told him that I could be asymptomatic and wearing a mask is protecting him. He scoffed and bemoaned missing out on an annual lobster fest that was canceled. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if certain people are worth trying to save. But, enough of that.
For this week’s positivity I’d like to share a music video that always makes me smile. Sara Bareilles came out with Brave in 2013, but given the way the first half of 2020 has unfolded, we need songs like this now.
Chime in and let me know how you’re all doing!
You are so right, we need a song like that today.
And I often think the same thoughts when I am confronted with the likes of your ‘lobster man’.

Gosh, that is not good news for Alabama, I am sorry to hear that things have gotten so much worse!
Sorry you have to deal with such a fool who does not believe in wearing masks.(we have those idiots here as well.)
Some people are just downright selfish!
I do love that song, Kim, she has so many great songs, I also love “Breathe Again”
Sending all those special hugs you shared with us here back to you, Kim.
Be well and keep safe!

On the positive side our pool is opening Monday! The apartment management is being ultra strict: Only apartment tenants, no guests, 10 at a time, limited hours…😊

The attitude of your neighbour is the very reason why the virus has been able to claim so many lives. He’s an idiot, plain and simple.
Best wishes, Pete.

Yep. Or as I like to call him, a “deplorable.”

Even as we are re-opening here in California, the numbers are still creeping up…a sad commentary that there seems to be an acceptance that this is the cost of going back to work…

Some scientists are saying that Florida is already in the second wave (74,000/2,900) and now we have the upcoming joy—NOT—of the RNC convention coming in August to Jacksonville, thanks to too many deluded people. St. Augustine is close enough that we expect those fools will be coming here for the hotels and beaches and we already have morons like your neighbor on every corner so my daughter and I plan to get a big grocery delivery beforehand and then hunker down behind closed doors for a good three weeks.
On the positive side, dare I say it, maybe a bunch of those convention-goers will infect each other.

Alabama’s cases never decreased before the Governor was pressured into opening everything up, so I think we’re still in the first wave. I’m dreading the next couple of weeks when we’ll see if cases surge across the country because of the protests. I wonder if it’s bad enough if the RNC will be forced to cancel the convention. They really are a bunch of idiots!
