I hope this Friday finds you all safe and well. Here’s the latest from Alabama. As of Thursday, June 18th, there are 27,796 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 801 people have sadly passed away. From last week that’s an increase of 5,322 people who have tested positive, and 50 more deaths. Three AL counties: Montgomery, Jefferson, and Tuscaloosa are seeing the largest increase in weekly cases, and ICUs in Montgomery and Tuscaloosa are almost at full capacity. AL is one of 23 states reporting sharp increases, and while these numbers are awful, we’re not quite as bad as states like Florida. It does beg the question as to why Mr. Trump thinks COVID-19 is “dying out.”
Our pool reopened Monday, and we’ve been happily using it every morning. Our apartment’s management is strictly following CDC guidelines so we’ve felt pretty safe. It’s great timing because my fibromyalgia and migraines have been acting up and swimming really helps me.
For this week’s positivity I’m sharing this wonderful video, Time from musicians Hans Zimmer and Alan Walker. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Please let me know how all of you are doing!

Long-distance hugs back!
I’m glad that your apartment’s management has been responsible, but a bummer that your state hasn’t. It’s extremely concerning that ICUs in Montgomery and Tuscaloosa are nearing full capacity–I am afraid doctors in those places are nearing the point of having to decide who to save and who to let die. It’s a decision nobody should ever have to make, but it’s a decision that needs to be made in places hit so hard by this.

Thanks Brendan. I can’t imagine having to make that decision. The county we live in thankfully isn’t as bad. Cases have been increasing, but at a slower pace. We’re classified as “moderately high,” which isn’t great but…

Hopefully, it won’t be bad ever in your county. Even where I was, EMS workers took significantly longer to get to people than before because of all the COVID calls.
By the way, I’m about to comment on one of your “Family Fridays” posts for permission to use on a blog post I’m working on.

Thanks for the update on your state, Kim, it looks quite grim!
I am so glad you are able to swim again at your pool and feel safe doing so! 🙂
Love the video and the photo of that little mouse sleeping in the flower just made me smile. 🙂

It’s getting more and more scary Margie. I’ve been putting off going to the doctor, but I finally had to cave and make an appointment because I’m out of medication.😒
My mornings now start with a two mile walk and then 10 laps in the pool as soon as it opens at 10:00 a.m. Our manager is wonderful and is determined to keep everything clean and everyone safe.😊
How adorable is that mouse? Would you believe Stephen King tweeted him of all people?😂

Thanks for the update. These flareups are really troubling but don’t seem to be causing many to consider their safety…

The sleeping mouse is nice indeed. We have seen here that Florida appears to have become the US epicentre, after opening up so widely.I hope that you are a long way from the border. Stay safe, both of you.
Best wishes, Pete.

Love Hans Zimmer. He has sound excellent soundtracks and his music is powerful.
I’m in Florida and we had an all time high increase in cases today…almost 4000. But with a Republican gov…no restrictions will occur.. and I see more and more people without masks. Stupidity and political obstinance knows no bounds.

He and Alan Walker make a good team as well. Being right next door to you, I’ve been following the news closely. It seems like governors like DeSantis are either in complete denial or more interested in currying favor with Mr. Trump than protecting their constituents.

Oh my Kim. Please continue to stay safe and use caution. That is a huge increase in a week. I probably won’t be going to Florida for the winter in 2021. I will take a year off just to be safe. Big hugs to you as well.

Love, love the mouse sleeping in the flower. Our tiny state of Massachusetts has had nearly 8,000 deaths. Guidelines are pretty strict, and that’s a good thing. Best to you, Kim.
