😞 so sad. And I just watched Chariots of Fire for the first time last night. Ian was pretty good in that film and lots of others… though I’ll always remember him as a Hobbit.

One of our best actors, undoubtedly. I hope he is remembered for more than the LOTR films, as he had a long career before that.

He did indeed Pete. I loved him in Alien, Chariots of Fire, Henry V, Time Bandits, and of course LOTR.

He was one of my favourites, since I first saw him in Nicholas and Alexandra when I was in primary school. God only knows why the nuns thought that was a suitable movie for small children, but Ian Holm stood out to me and I have been a fan of his ever since.
