There are chords in the hearts of the most reckless which cannot be touched without emotion, even by the utterly lost, to whom life and death are equally jests, there are matters of which no jest can be made.
~ Edgar Allan Poe, The Masque of the Red Death ~
Poe must have had visions of Covid-19 deniers. Good choice, dear Kim.
Best wishes, Pete.

Ooh you’re on at the same time as me, good, question coming up… was it you who recommended to me a book called Or What You Will by Jo Walton? I have no idea how it came to be on my kindle, but all the way through it I thought of you as this is surely your sort of thing, if so THANKS! It’s great.

I’ve always liked Poe. Considering he lived during a time of pandemics, much of what he wrote can be appropriate today, unfortunately.

With so many people either denying or ignoring the pandemic, Iβve been reminded repeatedly of this story, particularly in regards to house parties and mass gatherings like the motorcycle rally in Sturgis SD.
