The mosaic with the faces is very poignant.

It is Robbie. Over 3,000 lives lost and that doesn’t include those who have died since from cancer and other diseases related to the toxins at Ground Zero.

I didn’t know about that. How awful!

There are so many lessons that have already been forgotten unfortunately. But at least every year we can take time to remember the victims and heroes of that horrible day.

Kim I still remember that day. I was visiting my in laws with my barely 3 months old daughter when all of a sudden these images showed on the TV screen. We were thousands of kilometers away, across the ocean yet we all felt the world was turning on its axis. I remember feeling horrified and helpless. I still have chills and tears recalling these moments.

I think most of us will always remember what we were doing at the precinct moment when the news broke Sophie. I was getting ready to open the children’s room at our library when one of my coworkers called down and said to look at the CNN website. That was when the first plane had hit. We were all wondering what could have caused such a horrible accident, and then the second plane hit. It took a few seconds to register what we had just witnessed. God. I’m crying as I’m typing this, that’s how fresh the pain still is.

This is one of those events that everyone will simply never forget, and where we all know exactly what we were doing. It’s a sad and terrible event that to this day I still have trouble believing. One can only hope it will never occur again😢

God what a horrifying day. I remember every single minute of it. The bewilderment and sadness when hearing a plane hit one of the towers, to watching in helpless horror on the Internet as the second plane hit. The dawning realization that these were coordinated attacks. The fear after flight 93 crashed in PA, wondering how many planes had been hijacked,. Where and when was the next attack going to happen. The absolute shock of watching first one, than the other tower come down. And the day ending with the tragic news that Karen Martin, a well known resident of our town, was a flight attendant on American Flight 11 out of Boston.

I remember it very well too. I know I was in shock for weeks..not even able to work properly. It affected me so profoundly it was uncanny. And honestly whenever I see images of this it still gets to me. Tragic…as I said earlier, let’s hope something like this truly never happens again. I’m so sorry for your losses at that day 😢

A wonderful post to help give tribute to this day.

Thanks GP. There’s such a difference from how people came together in the days after the attacks, to how we’ve become so splintered even during a pandemic whose death toll is approaching 200,000.

Now is when we should come together, not riot, burn down people’s way of making a living, and causing even more of a divide.

As you know, I fully support peaceful protests GP, but not the rioting from either side. I don’t understand why we can’t even agree to protect each other by doing something so simple as wearing a mask in public.

I don’t understand that either. I suppose some people just want to rebel for the sake of causing trouble.

And I just watched an older gentleman at Trump’s rally in Michigan yesterday insist that the pandemic is fake. Sadly there are plenty of people like him.

Great post Kim….how soon we forget without a reminder….sad….chuq

Thanks chuq. As evidenced by the complete and utter splintering of our country, so many lessons have already been forgotten.

This is something that people will always remember where they were when they first heard. So tragic and horrific. Great post Kim, it is important to remember the victims and heroes.

Thanks Carla. I dread marking this day every year, but it has to be done.

Hard to believe it’s been 20 years. I remember it like it was yesterday. I guess we all do. I’m so glad we got Bin Laden, first and foremost. Secondly, I’m so glad it happened while Obama was in office. I love that he vowed he would relentlessly pursue Bin Laden until we got him and we (the Navy Seals) did. Thank God.

Thank you for sharing this. I still can’t look at the video…I was in New York that day and watched the entire thing unfold from Howard Stern’s radio studio. Next year, on the 20th anniversary, I am going to share some photos from that week of the aftermath, including how I met Bill Clinton a few days afterwards as he walked through lower Manhattan offering hope to the people still reeling from the horrific event

I remember coming to school upset, knowing that many of the kids in my elementary class would have seen the images and not knowing what I could possibly say to them to lessen their fears. Parents began showing up and pulling their kids out of school just to hug their children.
