Amber Elliot’s column in the Washington Post is heartbreaking, but a must read as it’s indicative of what’s happening across the country. It’s unacceptable when a healthcare worker who is trying to save lives is forced to leave her job because of threats to her and her family. Anyone with one ounce of common decency should be outraged and condemn this. Is this who we are, indeed. Thanks to Jill for posting this.
Often, a crisis such as a pandemic brings people together as they fight a common enemy, however the current pandemic has done the exact opposite in the U.S. The reason it has driven us even further apart, of course, is that the ‘man’ in the Oval Office, the ‘leader’ of this nation, told people not to worry, that the coronavirus would be gone soon with minimal damage. He then went even further, calling it a ‘democratic hoax’ and telling people not to bother with such things as wearing masks or social distancing. Half the people in this country listened, instead, to the scientists and medical experts, but the other half listened to Trump and are now putting everyone’s lives at risk.

You know, someone actually commented on Jill’s post espousing the view that if people want to risk their lives they should be allowed to do so. This attitude continues to flummox me. I just don’t understand how people can’t seem to understand that when you don’t wear a mask or social distance you are risking others lives and impinging on their rights. Excuse me. I have to go do my daily bout of banging my head against a wall.

I commented on her original post as well, but thank you so much for sharing this…part of our country has simply gone mad – so consumed with hatred and animosity that they cling to conspiracy theories ranted out at press conferences while black ooze trickles down their faces…you couldn’t make it up, and it couldn’t be more shameful.

I was emailing with somebody who made some written crack about social distancing or mask-wearing. (This was a few weeks before the election.) I emailed him back that I hoped he was kidding. He replied that he was not and that this would all go away after the election. ( I did not have the nerve to ask if he meant the pandemic or just the social dist dancing and lock-down requirements. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking he was concerned because his job might be at stake with the severe laws on what was allowed to be open.) Funny, that he is now quarantining for two weeks before going to see a brother with cancer. Gues for him it was not personal. I can not understand how people can deny that a pandemic is happening and that common sense health measures that have been around for over a century are something they refuse to do or acknowledge. The Cheeto has a lot to answer for. I’m going to reblog this.

Biden lost the election due to interference from Democrats and Venezuela. Trump is a Christian humanitarian. Covid19 is a fake Democrat plot. Masks and social distancing are big brother, deep state, communist, radical leftist, propaganda. Everything Qanon says is true. Everything is fake, fake, fake, except for the biggest faker of them all.

I really hope now the states will start to go back to what they are suppose to be, a land of freedom and opportunities as we from europe see your country. The orange man managed to divide the country and bring up its most violent side. Sadly I see something similar starting to happen across Europe too.
