HIV does not make people dangerous to know, so you can shake their hands and give them a hug: Heaven knows they need it.

In the early days (after we had learned a few things about Aids like how it was transmitted) I was appalled at how deliberately stupid many people were about how you caught it and who was/was not going to get it. Almost as willfully stupid as people are about COVID now.

We never hear much about it these days, hope the same happens with covid.

Unfortunately, it’s still there. It would be nice if they could find a cure so patients could stop taking boatloads of meds.

It would be nice if they could find a cure for everything, so much debilitating crap that people have to go through. Does my head in. 🙄

I was around from the start, as an EMT. At first, it was all ‘Contagion’, with full virus suits. Later on, we realised it was okay to be ‘normal’.
Best wishes, Pete.

It would be nice if someday it wouldn’t be necessary.

No kidding. It will eventually happen, but maybe not in my lifetime.

Education is a powerful tool. I also remember a lot of the ignorance about HIV in the early days. Fear makes people act in stupid ways.

COVID-19 is further proof of that.

I love that you highlighted the Princess Diana quote. I just watched the Netflix documentary about her last night — the scenes of her interacting with HIV patients were so moving.

That quote has always stuck with me.

It is too bad they have not found a cure for AIDs and HIV yet. At least there are meds to help, but we need to keep searching for a cure. It is almost like it has disappeared, although I know it hasn’t.

It is surprising they haven’t discovered one yet. It would be nice if people didn’t have to rely on daily drug cocktails to live.

Yes! And what a powerful quote from Princess Diana, in her kind way.
