As He Who Must Not Be Named grows more desperate to cling to his office despite court case after court case being thrown out, many times by conservative judges who were appointed by him, it’s getting increasingly dangerous for Republican state officials and others who are simply doing their job and making sure democracy proceeds the way it should. Yesterday, Georgia elections official, Gabriel Sterling (a Republican), who finally had enough, blasted the president and members of the GOP who are complicit in their silence. If you haven’t seen this it’s worth watching.
Senate Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s response to increasing pleas for help from Georgia Republicans:
The future will take care of itself.

Kim, I just finished writing a piece which will highlight these words. “It has to stop” is my title right from the words of Sterling. The outgoing president is throwing gasoline on the fire with his consistently refuted and nonsensical claims of wide-spread voter fraud. Take it to the bank, if someone gets hurt, the president will wash his hands of blame. GOP Congressman Denver Riggleman called the silence of most GOP Senators and legislators as “unethical.” It is also dangerous. Keith

If someone gets hurt you’ll hear crickets from just about all the Republicans. They really have become the Party of Cowards.

The Republican Party is so lost right now. I’ve never been a fan of that party, but they have lost their minds. Does Trump have nude photos of them all, or something? I’ve never seen anything like the fear they show of this fool. Pathetic.

It’s sickening. From the time I registered to vote when I was 18, until this year at the age of 55, I was registered Independent, because I liked to keep my options open. This year I switched my affiliation to Democrat, because I just can’t stand their sniveling, cowardly, embrace of Trump. They have proven that they don’t care about this country, only their political ambitions and lining their pockets. History will judge them harshly.

The constant, unrelenting attempt to destroy our democracy is just a cover for the $170-million that Trump has raised to “fight” the election…the reality is that he can use that money to cover his expenses, travel, etc for himself, his family and whoever else…it’s another big con that his followers are being suckered into…a sickening display that has made us a laughingstock to the rest of the world. Shameful.

Why would Trump use the money for his family and travel when he is a millionaire? I even heard that he donates his allowance that he earns from being president. Not to offend and of you, but I would just like to hear your reasoning. Thank you 😊

It is proven that the Biden family secretly got millions of dollars from the Russian Government. They endorsed him as well, and apparently Trump was the one collaborating with Russia, which is proven false, Hillary Clinton, Obama, and their buddies paid a foreign spy money to make false documents. Of course the news doesn’t share this information, but, with enough research in the right places, you may learn some interesting stuff.
I will check out the link for sure, thank you so much for responding and sharing ❣️❣️❣️

River, respectfully, no reputable news organization has found anything to back up these conspiracies. If you have a link to one I’d love for you to share it.

I think it was Q-anon, Project Veritas, or another that leaked it (I’m sure you don’t trust those, and I don’t blame you because they seem kinda suspicious) though I am sure there was another (I’m kinda on the younger side so my parents showed me). I’ll ask for it, though.
In your opinion, what news sources are reputable?

I absolutely don’t consider those reputable River. If you are skeptical of papers like the Washington Post, or the New York Times, who can be liberal leaning, (although they’re usually able to back up their stories with sources), I’d suggest The Wall Street Journal (it’s conservative and the Murdochs own that), Forbes, The Associated Press, and Reuters.

One other suggestion for the future River: Don’t state something has been proven unless you’ve researched it thoroughly. In this heightened conspiracy-laden environment, it’s part of the reason why people get so angry and frustrated.

Well, I’d say it’s my pleasure, but I hate sharing things like this. These election officials in Georgia are Republican but because Trump can’t face that he lost, he’s putting them and their families lives in danger. He just called Brad Raffensperger an “Enemy of the People,” which has dangerous historical implications. Ironically, these officials voted for Trump and supported him, although I suspect their feelings have changed.

Yes, but I wouldn’t say all Republicans or Democrats are all good or bad. I don’t support all Republicans, but don’t disagree with all Democrats either. I’m not fond of Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, or even Mike DeWine who is Republican
My grandparents did vite for DeWine, but regret it now because he inforced the lockdown so strongly

When I was 18, I was a registered Independent because I liked to keep my options for. I’m now 55 and for the first time changed my political affiliation to Democrat. I don’t agree with everything they have done, but in my opinion the Republican Party, except for a few, have joined the Trump Cult. As far as the lockdowns are concerned, there have been missteps as information from the federal government kept changing because Covid was such an unknown. But here’s what is known: As of today there are over 275 thousand people in the United States who have died. And we’re not talking about quick, peaceful, painless deaths. These were people gasping for every breath until a ventilator tube was shoved down their throats. And instead of at least having the comfort of loved ones to be there with at the end, instead they passed on with masked nurses and doctors around them. States are beginning to have to put restrictions in place again, but that’s because people won’t even wear masks or social distance.😡

I think it’s so sad when people die, and I know 2 people who died of covid. I agree that we should be careful, especially with our elders, but I just don’t like how Newsom told us to stay inside, then went to his restaurant. His kids are in in-person school as well, while my little cousins aren’t allowed, which makes me a bit reluctant to willingly follow his every rule.
I did have covid, though. So did my parents and my friend’s grandparents. We felt tired on day one, but fine the next. My grandma’s friends had covid, though, and were miserably sick, until their friend gave them Hydroxylchloroquine, they healed the next day.
I think social distancing is a fine idea, but as long as Newsom follows it as well
