It probably won’t surprise any of you that it’s been an emotional day for me. While we have so much to overcome, for the first time in a very long time, I have hope. Here are a few of my favorite moments from today’s inauguration.

I started last night during the ceremony honoring the 400,000+ victims of COVID-19, and haven’t stopped!

I confess I didn’t watch it all. I saw the highlights on the 6 pm BBC news.

Amanda Gorman was exceptional
But Lady Gogo “performs” the National Anthem was my cue to go and put the kettle on. Again 😉

Thanks Brad. I can’t even express the way I feel! Wasn’t Amanda Gorman incredible? And I loved Lady Gaga’s emotional rendition as well as Jennifer Lopez. I completely lost it when Kamala and Joe were sworn in, and I loved his speech!

Incredible, yes! Ms Gorman, Poet Laureate, aged 22, looks much younger, but her performance made her sound older/wiser than her years. And to think that I discovered the late, great Maya Angelou at Clinton’s Inauguration. And 28 years later, I’m wondering the same thing: “who is this woman?! She’s fantastic!!”
Joe looks/sounds like what America needs/deserves: “a swell guy.” Looking forward with great gladness to see some intelligence, care, respect and leadership in the White House for a change 🙂

Exactly Brad. As for President Biden, I know some aren’t pleased that he’s not more Progressive, but as a Centrist, I believe he’s what we need right now.

Emotional! Well, this old curmudgeon had to wipe his eyes several times as I sat frozen during the entire regalia after stating I would skip it and catch the highlights on the news. Emotional…and wonderful!
At this moment in time we don’t need a trailblazer. We need a grandfather and we got one today. And the future looks promising as personified by our young poet with the wise words and dancing hands.

I’ve been watching non-stop all day Don! I’ve gone through about a half a box of tissues. Wasn’t Amanda Gorman wonderful? What a future she has in front of her!☺️

Over the past few days, whenever I’ve come across a video of Joe or Kamala (can we call them by their first names?), I break out into a huge smile!! It’s beyond refreshing to be able to smile at something the leaders of our country are doing…and yes, they are LEADERS!
