In 2008, 18-year-old Taylor Swift came out with Love Story which has gone on to become one of her most beloved songs. In 2019, against her wishes, the singer’s master recordings were sold, and now she’s making new recordings of her first six albums, starting with Fearless which comes out April 9th. Love Story ~ Taylor’s Version is the first song to be released, and while it’s intentionally similar to the original (the new songs are intended to take away from the value of the originals), there are some differences, most notably the richness and maturity in the 31-year-old’s voice. Here are both versions.

She is a terrific musician and storyteller. Sometimes she gets a bad rap for being “overexposed” but she has earned everything she has gotten.

I agree Tony. I think she’s a wonderful songwriter, and her voice has really strengthened from when she first started.

I remember exactly where I was when I first heard this song! Good fr her for doing this, I hope it kills the sales of whoever has got the originals.

I remember seeing the video and being enchanted by it. I’ve watched and listened to how she’s evolved over the years, and it’s quite impressive. I absolutely agree. I hope this complete devalues the originals.

I confess I don’t know that much about her, or her music. But I do think it’s terrible how little control recording artists have over the way their talent is bought and sold like a used car.
Best wishes, Pete.

Yes. I love the original video, but when she was first starting out I always thought her voice was a little weak and thready. Certainly can’t say that now!

I like the later version much better. It really is maddening that the music industry still continues the practice of robbing the artists.

Her voice has really matured Don. It’s unbelievable that in 2021, artists are still treated this way.

I’m so glad she’s doing this. It’s nexcusable that her master recordings were sold. She’s an excellent singer/songwriter and also seems to be a good role model, especially for the younger generation.
