After that hard winter, one could not get enough of the nimble air. Every morning I wakened with a fresh consciousness that winter was over. There were none of the signs of spring for which I used to watch in Virginia, no budding woods or blooming gardens. There was only—spring itself; the throb of it, the slight restlessness, the vital essence of it everywhere: in the sky, in the swift clouds, in the pale sunshine, and in the warm high wind—rising suddenly, sinking suddenly, impulsive and playful like a big puppy that pawed you and then lay down to be petted. If I had been tossed down blindfold on that red prairie, I should have known that it was spring.

Happy Spring, Kim! Hard to believe it’s here already. 🌸

Happy Spring Kim. We have been having typical spring weather, gorgeous one day, windy and cold the next. I love the spring flowers, that is an amazing video. Someone spent a lot of time making that. 🌻🌷🌺

You too Carla. It’s quite Spring-ish here in AL, with temps in the 60s, but it won’t be long before things heat up.

It’s going to be in the low 50s today, which is awesome for this part of the world.

Enjoy your Spring Kim….here in the South it seldom lasts long and then we have the horrendous heat of Summer chuq

Thanks chuq. It’s going to be in the 60s for the next 2-3 days here, but I’m sure that won’t last. I can live with that as long as there aren’t any tornadoes.

A wonderful description of Spring’s exuberance. Living in Virginia, her description of watching for budding woods and blooming gardens is spot on. Thanks for sharing that paragraph.

A very lovely poem, Kim, even if I did not have much love for the Commonwealth of Virginia, years ago.
Perhaps it is time to mend my ways and look again, with different eyes?
Stay warm and safe, Kim!

The passage is actually from Cather’s My Ántonia and the main character is describing the Nebraska prairie in the Spring as opposed to Virginia. If you haven’t read it Shira, I highly recommend it!☺️
