John always writes such wonderful tributes. I saw Deliverance once after reading the book, and could never watch it again.

It’s a brilliant movie, but as Fraggle commented, traumatic.

Kim, I was unaware of his passing. Thanks for letting us know. He was quite the presence in “Network” and was like a shock to the system. As for “Deliverance,” I actually took a date to see the movie as I did not know about all of the scenes. “What was I thinking?” came to mind during the movie. Keith

I was somewhat prepared as the movie had already been out for several years before I was old enough to watch it, and I had read the book by James Dickey for a high school literature class. Still, Beatty’s acting made that scene even more disturbing.

He was also a fine stage actor. I had the pleasure of working for 2 weeks when he played Cap Andy in SHOWBOAT.
