inSince I’ve been baking quite a bit the last few days I’ve fallen a bit behind in my reading, so I thought I’d share my top 5 Christmas movies.
5. Why? Gizmo! Oh, and the Gremlins singing “Heigh Ho! Heigh Ho! It’s Off to Work We Go!” while watching Snow White.
4. Why? “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”.
3. Why? Natalie Wood teaching Kris how to chew gum and blow bubbles.
2. Why? While I love quite a few versions of this classic, this 1951 British production with Alastair Sim perfectly captured Ebenezer Scrooge. Bah, Humbug!
1. Why? Too many reasons to list!
Also: Charlie Brown’s Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Clause Is Comin’ To Town, Yes Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus, The Little Drummer Boy, The Santa Clause, The Santa Clause 2, Prancer, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, (the original animated version), and Elf.
Well, it’s back to the kitchen for me. More eating, er, baking to do!
Happy Holidays Everyone!!!!!

inWe’ve had alot of shark sightings off the coast of Massachusetts this year, but one news story back a week or so ago particularly caught my eye. Someone(s) with a great sense of humor wrote in the sand “You’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat.”
Um, we’re gonna need a bigger picture. Unfortunately I can’t figure out how to do this on my Bloody Kindle! Sorry. We have a love/hate relationship.
This reference to the movie Jaws started me thinking about what makes certain movie lines iconic. Is it the writing itself or the actor/actress who says it? Or is it a combination? For instance, would that memorable quote from in Jaws be forever stuck in our minds if another actor instead of Roy Schneider had spoken it? I’m not sure what the answer is but I’d love to hear what others think. This has also led me to start mulling over what my top ten movie lines are so…
1987 – The Princess Bride ~ Inigo Montoya/Mandy Patinkin
1987 – The Princess Bride ~ Vizzini/Wallace Shawn
1987 – The Princess Bride – Westley/Cary Elwes
Obviously I’m obsessed with The Princess Bride, but seriously! ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES EVER! Ahem. But I digress. Here’s the others on my list.
1977 – Star Wars ~ Han Solo/Harrison Ford
2002 – The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers ~ Gollum/ Andy Serkis
1939 – The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes ~ Sherlock Holmes/Basil Rathbone
1975 – Jaws ~ Chief Martin Brody/Roy Schneider
1939 – Gone With the Wind ~ Rhett Butler/Clark Gable
9. ” Nobody puts Baby in a corner.”
1987 – Dirty Dancing ~ Johnny Castle/ Patrick Swayze
1939 – The Wizard of Oz ~ Dorothy Gale/Judy Garland
