Hi everyone. I don’t know if you had noticed, but I deleted my blog the other day. I’ve been dealing with increasing migraines and I couldn’t seem to tear myself away from posting. I mistakenly thought it would be best to simply “rip off the band-aid” as it were. Of course then I had a nervous breakdown thinking of missing all of you and the six years I spent on my “baby.” Thankfully, WP was able to restore By Hook, so here I am. I do have to make some changes though. I’ll be posting, but not everyday like I was, and I’ll be visiting your blogs as much as I can, but because I’m taking a step back, I’ll undoubtedly miss some of your posts. I hope you won’t think too badly of me.

Glad to see you back, Kim. I was getting a little worried and hoped it was just about your migraines. I totally understand you needing to take a break and step back from posting so much. Another blogger friend has had to do the same recently. Your health has to be prioritized. Blog when you can, we will be here waiting for you. Hugs

There is no way I could post every day, that would be all I ever did! We all need some time off, especially now with all the stress everyone is under. Enjoy your “break” and take care of yourself.

Thanks Vanessa. I’ll still be doing 1-2 book reviews a week, my Whimsical Wednesdays, and I think probably Family Fridays, but that will be it for right now. I was going a little crazy with doing multiple posts every day!

We are well. I allow a few minutes of politics during the day, digest what I feel is important to know, then toss the rest.

You’ve had quite the week, Kim. These breaks are necessary for our mental health as much as anything. I don’t know how you daily posters do it. I’m especially sorry to hear about the migraines. I typically average only a couple per year, but since retirement (and less stress), I rarely seem to get them.

Thanks Pete. When I was still was working I’d regularly get them on a daily basis, and they have been better since I’ve retired. I usually get them 2-3 times a month, but right now It’s been almost constant. It’s probably a combination of stress, allergies, and too much time on my iPad.

I have had a bit too much of late too, hence my quiet blog… I do not know if it will mean anything, but take your time. I am glad you can go on blogging again. Do not feel pressured into posting everyday. The people love your blog.

You have to do what’s right for your health and sanity so, yes, step back, allow yourself to lighten the blogging load. We’ll still be here.

I’m a fellow migraineur, so I have great compassion for you. My life was transformed by the wonders of sumatriptan. I hope if you haven’t tried it and are an appropriate candidate, it can do similar wonders for you. There are several newer meds as well.
I’ll echo those who say try not to stress about blogging, responding to blogs—or anything else.

Hi Annie! Thanks so much for your kind words. I’m so sorry you suffer from migraines as well, but I’m glad to hear sumatriptan has worked so well for you. Unfortunately, I’m one of those rare cases where triptans either don’t work at all, or actually make my migraines worse. These days I survive with ice packs, Excedrin for Migraines, and when I’m really desperate, an occasional Fioricet.

That sounds rough. Have you explored the newer meds? No need to respond about this. I just hope you find some total relief.

Unfortunately I don’t have health insurance right now, so that puts most meds out of my reach.

Well, that really stinks! I find mindfulness meditation helps me with the stress element of migraines, but I won’t proselytize unless you want me to. There are specific approaches that help alleviate pain.
