I’ve done a few posts over the years to honor teachers, especially this time of year. As I have such wonderful memories of my own school-age experiences, as well as of the wonderful mentoring I received while getting my undergraduate degree in early childhood education, I didn’t think I could possibly have more admiration for these overworked, underpaid, tireless advocates for children. And then 2020 hit like some horrible never-ending nightmare. Like so many frontline workers, teachers stepped up and rose to the challenge to navigate complicated new ways of teaching. One such teacher is one of our fellow bloggers, Jennie Fitzkee.
Jennie has been teaching for over thirty years, and she’s the epitome of what I think of when I hear the word teacher. If you’re not familiar with her blog, A Teacher’s Reflections, https://jenniefitzkee.com I highly recommend you pop over and visit. Her posts never fail to put a smile on my face and brighten my day. She is a constant source of inspiration and hope, two commodities that we’re in precious need of now more than ever before.

I can’t agree more with Kim’s comments. Our area is in lockdown again and students are doing online learning. My granddaughter spends each day here and I am so happy with all that her teachers do.

Thanks Kim. My mother was a teacher (first and second grade). Plus, she taught Bible Study Fellowship for years once she retired. She loved being such. Keith

It’s not right. They should be one of the most highly regarded and paid members in society.

It’s so funny, I was originally planning something else entirely, and then Jennie popped into my head and I thought how representative she is of everything wonderful about the teaching profession.

Jennie is a superstar teacher! I have been following her blog almost since the time I began blogging two years ago. Every lesson she delivers to her students and the rest of us is filled with thought, planning, and care.
As a former teacher of thirty-one years, I am still inspired each time I read her blog. She does the profession of teaching honor by being a part of it. She is not only an outstanding teacher to her students. She is the teacher to teachers. I continue to learn something new with each of her magnificent posts.

I’ve only been following her for a little less than a year Pete, but I feel the same way.

No thanks necessary Jennie. I commented to someone else that I was planning on something entirely different for Teacher Appreciation Week, and then you sprang to mind with all your wonderful stories. I honestly can’t think of a better representative for the teaching profession than you my friend.🤗

I am so thankful and appreciative, Kim. I do love to tell stories! If I can be a voice or role model for teachers, or just a spark that gives them a smile…that’s a good thing!
