That’s a great poem. Even if Kipling is now considered to be an ‘Imperialist’.
(By the way, have you seen this? Wonderful film.)

What does Imperialist mean? I could Google it, but I’m trying to learn the old fashion way, lol

Someone who thought the British Empire was a good thing. He thought Britain brought culture to the natives, and did good things for third world countries by making them more ‘British’.
Definition of Imperialism: A policy of extending a country’s power and influence through colonization, use of military force, or other means.
He was also exceptionally patriotic.
Best wishes, Pete.

Oh, ewwww, lol. What a horrible way to think about others =/ As we know now the beauty in the Indigenous and Native cultures.

I don’t measure up to every condition in this poem, but I love it all the same because of the breadth of its vision.

A lot of profound thoughts and considerations in this poem. I wasn’t impressed with the narrator though.

Sorry Carla. I’ve featured Geoff’s covers of Country Roads and Sixteen Tons on here and people are usually blown away by his bass.

I love the songs he does, and have shared them with my son, but I think this was the pacing for me. It was so slow……

3 minutes of philosophy….well done. Great voice but a bit too monotone…..nice post Kim chuq

Thanks chuq. At least a couple of others who love his singing, didn’t care for his reading the poem so you’re not alone.

I love that poem, but the guy should stick to singing. 😊

Carla thinks so as well.

Yeah, there’s something unnatural about his voice somehow. At least to my ears. Sorry. 😘

I’ll stick with sharing his singing from now on.

Hi, Kim: If you want to participate in my new round robin Education for the Future of Democracy Collaborative, I’d love to share this post on the new Educational Collaborative blog.
Best,

Hi Shira. Thanks so much for thinking of me. I’m not sure what that would entail. Right now I’m pretty bogged down with reviews and blog tours, and of course real life, so I hesitant to take anything else on.

Understood. It just entails reposting a post from the Educational Collaborative blog
when one of your blog posts is posted. Pretty simple.
