I have come to believe that a great teacher is a great artist and that there are as few as there are any great artists. It might even be the greatest of the arts since the medium is the human mind and spirit.

Nice quote! It’s so true. A great teacher will stay with you for life with the lessons they’ve taught. 🙂 I have a few I think back on from time to time and have to wonder how seriously different my life might be today if I hadn’t had them for a teacher.

I’m sorry it’s taken me a few days to respond. I just found your comment in my spam folder.😡 Anyway, I’m so happy you liked the quote! And it’s true. A good teacher can make such a difference.

Absolutely Vinnie. Mine was Mr. Kerry Brown. He helped me so much when my father died during my junior year in high school. I’ll never forget him.

That’s a nice sounding teacher. Mine was English teacher Mrs Daniels, she gave such passion in her lessons.

We visited a nursery today, one of three options, for our little terror and we soon agreed, whist discussing options later, that its not the school but the teachers that make the difference.
I always remember my English teacher, who was Irish, Mr Hume. He delighted in giving lines out for misdemeanours. ‘I must endeavour to remember to furnish myself with all necessary scholastic requisites’ 300 times for forgetting a book! or ‘verbal expressiveness is a delightful human attribute, but when misapplied becomes an intolerable burdon of torpor’
I would have got a good grade except I was busy writing lines all the time 🙂

I absolutely agree Eddy. It’s definitely the teachers that make the difference. That Mr. Hume sounds like he was a bit tough. I had a no nonsense teacher in high school named Mr. Gwin who would close and lock the classroom door exactly after the bell rang. If you were late he wouldn’t let you in for ten minutes. On the other hand though, no one could bring history to life like he could.

Argh! Another ‘Day’!
But it’s a good one this time. My teachers were mostly excellent, and some continued to be lifelong friends. Real teachers are born, not trained, in my opinion.
Best wishes, Pete.

I had some great teachers in secondary school. They really believed that anything was possible for us kids in that run-down part of London. They inspired so many of us.
