Every book you pick up has its own lesson or lessons, and quite often the bad books have more to teach than the good ones.
I was built with a love of the night and the unquiet coffin, that’s all.
Stephen King, On Writing: Memoir of the Craft
The glory of a good tale is that it is limitless and fluid; a good tale belongs to each reader in its own particular way.
One of the really bad things you can do to your writing is to dress up the vocabulary, looking for long words because you’re maybe a little bit ashamed of your short ones.

He is very quotable, and undeniably successful. I think we must have all read (or watched) something of his work during our lives.
Best wishes, Pete.

I know his writing isn’t for everyone, but I think it can’t be denied that he’s a literary icon. And it’s a great time right now if you are a King fan. Ignoring the mess that the film adaptation of The Gunslinger turned out to be, there’s the success of It, his new book with his son coming out next week, Gerald’s Game on Netflix next Friday, an adaptation of his short story 1922 on Netflix next month, and the Hulu limited series Castle Rock, which is coming next year! I think the excitement is going to kill me!

Man, he is such a terrific writer. So many outstanding novels that I have read by him, that I have really lost count. Have you ever read something by his son Joe Hill? NOS4A2 (nosferatu) for instance was absolutely amazing 😀

Have you read the article that was in the Bangor paper? It is online and shares how generous he has been to his community through volunteering and donations. He really is remarkable!

I know both he and his wife have given a lot to schools and libraries, but I haven’t seen that article. Thanks for letting me know. I’m going to look it up right now.😊

Soooo much respect for this guy. I used to think as a kid that he was just an overrated author who published books left and right. Man was I wrong (I’ve only read one of his books though). I’m glad to see so many of his books getting adapted on the big screen/shows nowadays too!

No doubt about that! The only King books I got my hands on right now are books 2 to 4 of the Dark Tower series; had to get them after enjoying book 1! But maaaaan, almost all his books are on my TBR, The Stand included!
