This is kind of the new normal. We’re facing a new reality in this state, where fires threaten people’s lives, their property, their neighborhoods, and of course, billions and billions of dollars.

The new normal? Welcome to climate change everyone. After the devastating wildfires in Northern California just a couple of months ago, it seems unfathomable that this is happening again, so soon. As of this morning, half a dozen wildfires have blazed a trail of destruction through almost 200,000 acres and nearly 800 structures have been destroyed. So far there’s only one fatality that’s been reported, but most likely that number will rise. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who lives in Southern California or has family and friends who reside there.

It’s really unbelievable and to hear Governor Brown say it’s the new normal really puts a whole new perspective on it.😰

This and the devastation of Puerto Rico are the new, climate-change-induced normal. Science has been predicting this for decades, and yet still a sizeable percentage of the population is saying it’s only a hoax, that the scientists are “alarmists,” and so on. As the saying goes, against stupidity the gods themselves contend in vain.

I absolutely agree. There will be even more monster storms, drought, and wildfires in our future, yet this is still unbelievably a political issue.😡🤬

This really is very disheartening to say the least. It seems almost as if the human race at times is digging it’s own grave. I hope that everyone will be allright, aside from property damage. But it really is quite tragic 😢

As long as so many keep denying climate change and making it a political issue, we are indeed digging our own grave Michel.😰

Yeh… 😦 And here we are, us Canadians, complaining about snow and all… Gosh, sometimes you need to look at things on a much bigger scale to understand how lucky some of us are.

It does Didi. My husband and I went grocery shopping Friday and everyone was going crazy because we were going to get a few inches of snow. All I could think of is were the thousands of people having to evacuate their homes with little more than the clothes on their backs. Compared to that, a little snowstorm didn’t seem all that bad.

Agreed! Everytime I see the news I feel so guilty for all my miniscule complaints. My God be with all of these people 😓

It’s so sad! Two of my friends packed up their houses, ones staying with friends and the other is staying with my sister. They just got word they could go home yesterday BUT there’s still a lot up in the air. Ugh. My heart breaks for all of them and I just keep praying.

And over the pond here a flurry of snow has brought the country to a standstill. I really think Mother Nature keeps making a point, and we’re not listening, or rather the people in charge aren’t.

The storms, droughts, wildfires, and flooding across the globe are just going to continue to worsen. Climate change is a fact no matter how much certain politicians want to deny it.
