While South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has become one of Trump’s most fervent backers, a few years ago he had this to say about our Dear Leader and Joe Biden.
This is a defining moment in the future of the Republican Party. We have to reject this demagoguery, and if we don’t reject Donald Trump we’ve lost the moral authority to govern this great nation.

Sorry for the slight “highjack” of this post. I’m going to reply here to your last reply to me on chuq’s Florida post.
I decided to visit your blog (which based on name seemed non-political since “news” by definition is not necessarily political), but much to my dismay, I find you making “personal attacks” against someone.
I’ll ask you what I’ve asked others over at chuq’s:
Why do YOU get to make personal attacks and insult someone and I may not?
While you may maintain “plausible deniability”, “Dear Leader” is a personal attack on Trump. “Dear Leader” is in its current use derisive.
If I do decide to follow your blog, I will NOT make personal attacks on anyone if the post is non-political, but if a post is political, as this one is, and it contains a personal attack, which in my opinion it does, then why may I not include a personal attack in my comments?
I’m simply asking why you are promoting a double standard (my interpretation of what you have written)?

The subtitle reads: “Book Reviews, News, and Other Stuff.” News includes social issues and yes, politics. As for personal attacks, I happen to have extremely strong feelings regarding the current occupant of the White House. When I talk about personal attacks I’m talking about calling me or another follower names because you disagree. If you have a persuasive argument to make, please feel free.

So, you get to have “strong feelings” but if I strongly disagree that isn’t enough of a “strong feeling” for me to be justified in making a personal attack?
Do you understand where I am coming from?

No I really don’t. I call Mr. Trump Dear Leader because certain dictatorial actions of his fit that title. You’re welcome to call Biden “Sleepy Joe” if you so wish. By personal attacks I’m talking about calling me or another commenter “stupid” for one example, simply because you disagree.

I often forget two things when I’m commenting.
1. Ask questions, don’t assume.
2. Define terms.
Here is the definition of stupid:
adjective
1. having or showing a great lack of intelligence or common sense.
“I was stupid enough to think she was perfect”
noun
INFORMAL
1. a stupid person (often used as a term of address).
“you’re not a coward, stupid!”
I will point out that in those “dictionary” definitions there is no negative implication. That comes from the READER assuming what the writer means without asking a question.
And you can’t make this up. My wife just spotted something and when I asked her, “Why did they name it that?” She replied, “Because they are stupid.” And she is one of the least caustic people I know. What they named their company did show a GREAT lack of common sense.

It is a fact that Lindsey Graham supports President Trump on occasion.
It is my OPINION that Lindsey Grahamnasty (yes, I know that is a personal attack) is NOT a “fervent” backer of Trump.
I don’t trust Sen. Graham for a second. Unfortunately in the November elections, I do not have a viable option to him so I will vote for him despite his lack of “fervent” support for what I want in a Federal government.
To clarify, “fervent” in my opinion is 100% AND vocal support.
I am not cognizant of the “facts” of the Senator’s voting record in regards to Trump’s desired legislation (possibly near 100% but grudgingly to get reelected and not attacked) but I would certainly not call his lack of action in areas in which he has political power to support Trump (ie: his committee) “fervent”.
Was that bland enough for y’all?

As I said, I don’t have proof of that assertion and my “feeling” is that he is only doing that because it is politically expedient. I live in South Carolina and am involved in several groups that follow Graham closely and he is NOT what he appears to be. He is an opportunist and right now Trump is the opportunity. Remember how chummy he was with McCain? And did you see him fighting McConnel before the mid-terms? Etc.

Absolutely. Scary isn’t it. In general, it is amazing on how much most people agree on. Think Contract With America. It was constructed with 80% agreed upon issues.

PS to that comment about the Senator. Aren’t you proud I didn’t make any “personal attacks” on Biden? (See I didn’t even make the three I was just tempted to do in this comment.)

OK, I just don’t want to take the time to “learn” it. I like Disqus much better. Most of the WP blogs do not have an active comment community. They are mostly one-offs with no back and forth. And Disqus lets you edit your comment.
(Lookie that, I got a peace sign on this comment.)

So, since you are my resident expert on the WordPress comment system (I have mentioned I hate it recently?) – How many levels of replies are allowed, and is that controlled by the blog author or WordPress?
I ask because I am not able to reply to your “No I really don’t.” reply.

Two more items Mr. WordPress expert:
1. I just discovered or spotted a notification bell in the menu bar at the top of your blog page. I don’t recall seeing it elsewhere, but it probably is.
2. Is there a way to “private message” or directly contact the blog author? I really didn’t want to “hijack” this thread with what is really a “private” discussion. So if there is for blogs in general, I’d like to know. I’m not asking for a way to contact you privately other than in the context of the discussion about civility.
OK, make that three:
3. Is there a way to cancel “Notify me of new comments via email.” for just ONE comment thread? I found where you can do that for all threads, but I wanted to cancel notifications of some other threads.

To get back to your original blog, Little Lindsey was totally right. Trump was elected and the GOP has lost any voice in deciding the morals of the country. Too bad people like Lindsey didn’t have the backbone to do what was right.

Wow, I started reading your comments and had to stop. Some people simply refuse to expand their way of thinking…sorry you had to defend your point of view when that is, in fact, what it is. As for Lindsay Graham, while I don’t agree with many of his political positions, I used to think he was broad-thinking enough to understand both sides…he has seemingly changed in the past few years, but if you’ve seen the ad showing his comments several years ago about Joe Biden, you will see a politician who also had humanity at one point. Compromise and work together, not rearing us apart – that is what we need in my opinion.

Thanks John. This conversation actually started on someone else’s blog before moving here. Believe it or not this was actually polite! I completely agree with you about Graham. I used to think of him as a moderate Republican before he hitched a ride on the Trump train. Bipartisan respect and compromise is badly needed.

By Hook, Please forgive the hijack of this thread, but since we are unaware of a way to contact a blog’s author directly, I’m offering the following article without comment (OK, probably a little.) for your edification.
I believe you to be NOT stupid. That is, I trust that you possess intelligence and common sense. Since my reply to chuq’s (aka Lobotero of “In Saner Thought”, Am I right in that assumption?) “What Can We Expect With A Second Term? post is what led me here, I wanted to provide you with an article that may possibly diminish your ignorance of President Trump’s agenda.
