As the coming week is going to be stressful here in the US with the Georgia runoffs on Tuesday, and what promises to be quite the spectacle in Congress on Wednesday, of what should be the routine counting of Electoral votes and affirmation of Joe Biden as President, I was trying to keep things light here on By Hook Or By Book, but then earlier today, the Washington Post released audio excerpts of Mr. Trump, pleading and threatening Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s Secretary of State to “find” 11,780 votes to overturn his defeat in that state. Call it sedition. Call it treason. To me without a doubt, it’s illegal. Take a listen for yourself.

No: I just haven’t got the energy to listen to it. I’m sure it is illegal, as much of what he has been doing has already been both immoral and illegal, but the trouble is that his supporters simply do not seem to care.
That is why I focus on doing the little bit that I may be able to do, and making my old lesson plans plus my new thoughts available, in the hope that empathy-building and thought-provokation may get those who believe this man’s lies to think, for just a moment, and to act in all of our best interests, rather than in his interests, as he seems to have persuaded much of the country to do or allow.

I would say it is illegal. The problem is 50% of what that person does is illegal.He’s holding one of his rallies in GA tomorrow. Not only will what he says will be illegal and his usual lies, he will also egg on violence.

There was a commenter on one of Pete’s recent posts, who said she thought Boris Johnson was worse than Trump. I’ll wager not even he would do this.

My hope is that his crazy talk is going to backfire and Republics will stay home on runoff election day because they don’t trust the system.

It’s illegal, as has much of what he’s done, and I so hope he gets jailed for it all at the end (and isn’t able to run in 2024).

Maybe this will be the thing that will land him in jail. He has a couple more weeks to do crazy shit, so maybe, just maybe he will finally cross that absolute final line that all of us thought he already passed a thousand times. One can hope.

I wasn’t too worried about that because I thought there was no way the Republicans would go along with it, but now I have my doubts.

All he’s been doing is screaming that the election was stolen from him Sophie. As far as Congress goes, their sole job on Wednesday should be counting the electoral college votes, and affirming Biden is the winner. Instead, they’re not only turning this into a farce, but they’re setting a dangerous precedent.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the Georgia races and see how Trump impacts those contests. I think more and more people in Congress are sick of all this, but they are afraid to speak out because of his influence. Whatever happened to doing the right thing?
