Rosalind P. Walter passed away this past Wednesday at the grand age of 95. During World War II, Rosalind (Palmer) was one of many women who worked in the war industry. She was employed as a riveter on fighter planes and advocated for equal pay for women. In 1942, an interview she did inspired Redd Evans and John Jacob Loeb to write the song Rosie the Riveter.
After the war, Rosalind became well known for her philanthropy and support of public television. For her full obituary, please visit:

Way back in the day…. 1981 to be exact! I was an apprenticed engineer working for an Oxford Foundry, my old apprentice trainer told me tales of the women who operated machines throughout the war. Whilst their husbands were fighting in European theatres, women were machining YES cast iron hand grenades made in the foundry!!!! Great posting Kim 🙂 .
